Fellow bees–I’m at a loss at what to do here. My best friend is getting married in a couple weeks and I am her MOH! She ordered her dresses several months ago and they just came in–and mine is measuring 2 sizes smaller than the tag size. Luckily my mother in law is a wedding dress seamstress and thinks she is going to be able to fix this by putting a corset back into the dress, but I’m a little distraught at the fact that I paid over $300 for this gown and it’s measuring a completely different size than what we ordered AND my mother in law has a very strong suspicion that this gown has been altered before…she can see the old seam line (which is now exposed) and the embroidery/decoration on the bust doesn’t go all the way to the seam, it stops about 2 inches short on both sides. My best friend has kind of taken the notion that as long as it can be fixed, she doesn’t care–but I’m really pissed off! The dress is beautiful and honestly one that I would wear again (I know everyone says that–but I’m really serious about this one!) and now that it’s being cut apart to make into a corset back and may still not even fit in the hips–I’ll likely never be able to wear it again. I don’t know if I should take it back to the shop where it was ordered or not? My measurements and the measurements on the size chart for the size 20 gown were 44-35-46. This dress is measuring 40-34-42, so more like a 14 or a 16….Should I chalk it up to a wedding loss or should I try to get the shop to refund part of my money?
