- Wedding: November 2011
I was trying to be a budget friendly bride because there are 3 weddings in my circle this year. I decided to have my Aunt who is a professional seamstress make the dresses which she agreed to do at no charge. I was going to have all the girls pay for the material, which I got on sale so it would’ve been about $35 and then throw in another $30 which would go to paying for my Aunts hotel room for the wedding since she was sewing free of charge.
Everything was fine until my Maid/Matron of Honor went to try the dress and we don’t like it. The dress is a very simple dress and I decided on that dress because of how easy it was since she would have to sew 10 dresses. The neckline isn’t right and the fit was way off. The problem is that only 1 of my Bridesmaid or Best Man is in the same city as my Aunt. So as far as alterations, once she sends them the dress, they are going to have to have it altered somewhere else. And if they are gonna need as much alterations as my Maid/Matron of Honor, its going to get pricey. So far she has only made 3 dresses but only 1 has tried it on. At this point I want to let everyone pick a pattern and take it somewhere to have their dresses made, but I don’t want to hurt my Aunts feelings. I’m doing two different color dresses and one shade of the material is discontinued so what we have is it. I can’t risk wasting that color material.
I don’t know what to do
