I’d put my foot down.  My wedding is just a month after yours and my sisters finally ordered their’s yesterday and my Future Sister-In-Law will be going into the store on Monday (she just finished finals). Your best friend is being too picky, IMO.  It sounds like she’s not listening to your requests.  I’d tell her to s&*^ or get off the pot, already, lol.

I do think you need to make crystal clear that the gown must be ordered immediately and that it must meet the criteria you’ve established. You’re not being outrageous at all by insisting on a long dress, nor are you wrong for exempting ruched, sweetheart necklines.

I voted “other” but my suggestion is kind of a combo of two of the options.

I think you should pick 3-5 dress you like and have her pick her favorite of those choices, then go ahead and order it. I would recommend sticking to lightweight fabrics though since you are getting married in Florida. Maybe you could go try a few on so you know how comfortable and light the fabrics are.

It’s your wedding, so you get final say. Put your foot down on the length and style you want but give her a few approved options to choose from.

Does she just not like wearing long dresses? I’m generally not comfortable in long dresses (and they tend to look awful on me). Either way, it sounds as though this dress-findind saga is going on long enough, given that you’ve only got one bridesmaid to please, you’d think it wouldn’t be too difficult. But was there anything in particular wrong with the dress she chose other than the neckline? Because if that’s all that was wrong with it, trust me, regardless of what she wears, you will stand out. You’re the bride for god’s sake! Even if her dress has a similar neckline to yours, I’m sure everyone will know who is who.

Tell her what the bridal shop said – there’s no time to waste! Then, you two can pick out a dress together. I would try to compromise with her – can she have a sweetheart neckline if it has straps? If it’s not ruched? If she sees that you’re willing to work with her, I think she’ll be much more eager to pick one.

@mssmiley: If she likes that red dress…what’s wrong with her wearing it?  It does look the same as the blue one…so what’s the problem?

They certainly do look very similar to me.  Have you two gone dress shopping together?  Maybe go to lunch with her this week and take her to a shop and say you two can’t leave until she orders a dress, lol.  :-p

Yes you need to order asap. I took forever to order my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses – they told me end of November was abso latestttt and my wedding is 2 weeks before yours.

You’re paying so just pick the dress you want and order it.  She’s being a bit ridiculous!
