first of all, i’d just like to applaud you for how you are handling this.  i’ve been in weddings before where the bride has not taken into account what works with bigger girls with catastrophic results (and much discomfort).  you are a good friend.

This is such a hard situation, I’m sure its stressful for you and unfortunately for Maggie! I think that dress #1 is great, but agree with Maggie, I don’t think it would be flattering on her size, and it sounds like she’s not comfortable with it…. I totally understand why you don’t want your BM’s to have a dress that is a similar shape as yours so no #2, and that leaves #3, I think this dress is cute and would work for Maggie.

But since you like #1 so much and are having a hard time finding a universal fit, have you thought about having the girls wear different styles of dress in the same colors?

    Good luck!

To be entirely honest, I’m not as crazy about Dress #1, but that’s my own personal opinion.  I love the silhouette of Dress #3 and think it would be so flattering for Maggie!

I think the ruching (sp?) on #3 would be very flattering for Maggie.  I can understand why Maggie veto’d #1 – it’s very fitted and would maximize her bigger size.

I have seen #3 as a wedding dress on bigger girls and it looked awesome. Makes the girls look great, the curves are more flattering, and the ruching will make her feel smaller while the a line doesn’t accentuate her hips like #1 does. I think 3 is a great choice!

Just as with any miss size girl, a dress depends on the shape of the person. I am a plus size chic and although I really like dress #3 it would look awful on me. Dress #2 would be the most flattering, if you really don’t want them in a dress close to your own, then keep bridesmaid dress shopping, IMO. The reason dress 3 would look poor on me is cuz I have huge hips and the fact that that dress hits on the hip it would only emphasize the stomach and the hips. However dress #2 hits higher up which conceals the tummy and hip. Plus the sash around the waist draws the eye there which again works magic in hiding any flaws down below.

My bridesmaids are size 0, 4, 8, 8, 12, and 18. There’s no way the same dress would look fabulous on all of them, they’re all so different. So we are going with different dress style.s

I’m a size 8 and I would feel self concious in dress #1 so I can see where Maggie is coming from. Why not try another bridal salon?

Hands down dress 3 for Maggie. No doubt about it…

If you really truely want the girls to be comfy I’d give them a color (and brand) and let them pick style. Each girl WILL find what she loves (like you want them to) becasue honestly you will NOT find 1 single dress that they all look good in AND love (impossible). You’re going to have to sacrifice uniformity or someones opinion…

My vote is dress 3 though.

I love dress #3; it looks like it would be flattering on many shapes!  Can I ask who the designer is?
