why not modest enough? it looks fine to me, a normal bridesmaid dress. maybe its just the photo you showed him,? you could try making it a little longer or putting a think strap on it or adding stockings?

Pretty sure shoulders probably need to be covered.  I’d honestly choose another dress.

Hmm…I was expecting something completely different for “not modest.” That’s gorgeous- I’m surprised a shoulder is a no-go. I assume he nixes strapless dresses, as well?

I wouldn’t do anything to the dress- I know you said no to a shrug, but that might be the best solution. You’re not going to have that many photos in the church with Maid/Matron of Honor in it, so I wouldn’t be too concerned with how it looks.

maybe a white fux fur shrug, if that would work in the weather, white would go good with that colour

I would just go with a wrap or cardigan to cover that one shoulder. I may not look great but the girls can take them off as soon as they’re outside.

I can’t picture any good solution, but the one shoulder thing is a bit inappropriate for a church. You might have to get new dresses 🙁

Maybe you can make a faux strap for the bare shoulder. I would get ribbon in the same color as the dress and saftey pin it to the inside of the dress or something. They MAY help, but I’m not sure.

Add a removable cap sleeve, That way they can take them off for the reception but still be covered for the ceremony.

I honestly think a wrap is the best way to go, but maybe more of a stole?  It would only have to be on during church, and then she could take it off as soon as she’s out of the building.

That’s a tricky dress to cover up, sorry!  It looks like it should be church appropriate!

Some kind of lacy top with a cap sleeve under the dress? So it “covers” the bare shoulder without messing up the other sleeve/

@Mrs.LetsGoPens:  +1, that’s a great idea, you can even use a wider ribbon and just tell the priest that you’re adding a 1-inch wide strap to that side because that’s basically what you’d be doing for the ceremony.

I think a sheer cap sleeve in the same color is the way to go.  Maybe it can be buttoned underneath so it can be removed after the ceremony.

PS: It is inappopriate and disrespectful to show shoulder(s) in a Catholic church.
