You’ve got loads of options!  You could keep your maids in heels with cocktail dresses — you’d just need to get these little plastic dealies to put on their heels to keep them from sinking.  I hope they work!  I’m planning on wearing heels on grass for my own wedding.  http://www.soulmatesilk.com/index.html

Long, black dresses aren’t too hard to find, either.  JCrew and Nordstrom always have  some, though they do lose a bit in re-wearability.

I don’t think flats with cocktail dresses would look bad, either.  It could be really cute.

I would try to circle the wagons and get everyone on the same page.  If you are unsure, why not ask the girls who will be wearing them?  I don’t think you are in bad shape.   I agree with bluegreenjean.  There are options.

I don’t know about your girls, but I think I would prefer heels, no matter where I was walking.  I would never prefer flats.  (I’m short and have big feet.)  So perhaps everyone could just discuss the possibilities and come up with a solution that works.

Since you are still wanting to do a black dress, you still have lots of options.  They can wear a wedge if you don’t think flats are fancy enough, although there are some lovely fancy flats.  You could also choose a long dress that all the girls like, and a kind of dress that can be altered into a shorter dress after your wedding.  See if your girls can help find you ideas online…Good luck!

Wedges on grass should work splendidly!  Also, there are SO many cute flats out there now, I really would not worry about it!

Perhaps put together an email to send to all of your bridesmaids with some suggestions that you’ve found & like…and let them take it from there!

Yes, maybe you can make a few polyvore boards to show them different looks!

Miss Quiche is so right…with the amount of cute flats and wedges out there, this shouldn’t be a problem. Plus it will be much more comfortable for your pregnant friend to stand/walk around in.
