so we’re having a summer wedding next august. i’m picking out Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses now. i have 5 Bridesmaid or Best Man, 1 short, 3 tall and one plus size. we origionally picked a knee length sweetheart neckline with 1 shoulder dress but after talking to my Maid/Matron of Honor this weekend realized it wouldn’t be too good if someone put their arms up and jumped while dancing *boobies everywhere* so i picked a knee length 1 shoulder cross over with a high side (in the arm pit). as i was showing a Bridesmaid or Best Man tonight i showed her an example of a long dress in our color. she said she liked the long dress better then the short one.
do you summer brides have any exerience with long vs short dresses for your wedding?
details: ontario canada, wedding in august, outside with backyard reception. blush and grey themed wedding.
here are the dresses:

The first one looks like it will be the most flattering on all of the girls. It will most likely be flattering on your plus size bridesmaid, and the shorter bridesmaid can hem it a little so that it is a tasteful knee length (or right above the knee), which can be flattering for a shorter person (I’m only 5’0 so I speak from experience – usually right to the knee or above the knee is the most elongating for a shorter person). I usually like long dresses but for a backyard reception short seems the most appropriate. It needs to be easy for the girls to get around.

I love the black and green dresses.
I wish I could get my girls to wear something like that but my Maid/Matron of Honor is VERY top heavy. Like a F or G size. And I don’t think it would be to flattering on her with the one shoulder!!

Long dresses, in my opinion, are better suited for winter. Especially the one you chose.
I prefer short dresses because they are cheaper and more likely to be worn again.
All three are very pretty!

I like longer dresses better but not for a backyard reception. The top 2 look almost identical so I would pick whichever 1 is the most flattering for your largest bridesmaid.

I had to giggle at the *boobies everywhere*
I prefer dress #2
