Since the norms around Bridesmaid dresses are changing, I thought it would be interesting to see which option you chose for your girls and why. Matching? Non matching? Choose their own? You choose for them?
Whichever option you chose, comment on why/how it worked out for you/and if you’d chose the same next time.
For me, I wanted to keep things simple so only had my sister as Maid/Matron of Honor and no other BMs. That made life easy! I also didn’t choose wedding colours, so that made things even easier. Plus, my sister has excellent taste. So I just let her choose whatever she wanted to wear. Could have been something she already owned, something new, whatever.
For me this worked out great and I’d recomend it to others in a similar situation. My sister looked gorgeous and was happy to be able to choose herself.

I wanted to pick one DB Bridesmaid or Best Man dress color (and floor length), but one of my BMs was 38 weeks pregnant and they didn’t have any dresses that would fit her!
So instead we just went with “blue”.

They all (I have 2 Bridesmaid or Best Man and my MOH) picked their own dress in a relatively coral-ish color. They are 3 different, amazing women with 3 different, amazing body types and I wanted them comfortable. Plus they all had different budgets, so they could control their expense.
I’m excited to see how they all look on the day of!

I’m sending my moh w a bmp to pick out the dress they will all wear (4 girls). My only requirement is that it’s long and a nice shade of mint.

I found the color and fabric I liked (Alfred Sung Paradise) and they could choose whatever dress they wanted that came in that color. I loved the way it looked, and it was so important to me that my girls wore a dress that they felt good in!

I initially found a dress I fell in love with, but did not come in a size 16 for my one plus-sized bridesmaid:and after not being able to find something similar, anywhere, and after dealing with the opinions of my future Mother-In-Law and her two daughters (two of my bridesmaids) who hated everything they saw, I eventually just said fluff it – Everyone go to David’s Bridal, pick a knee-length chiffon dress in the color iris, and let me know which one you’re ordering so I can cross it off the list.
I didn’t get a single complaint after that!

It’s amazing how many bees have gone towards non matching dresses in the past few years! As someone who just cannot find a strapless brad that works, I highly value being able to choose my own dress.

I chose one dress for my sister who is my maid of honor and a second dress for my three bridesmaids. The dresses are very similar except that my sister’s dress is strapless so they complement each other nicely.

I don’t like the look of mismatched Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses so I chose one dress for all my BMs to wear.

I picked infinity dresses. So all the BMs will wear the same dress but they can style it any way they like!

My bridesmaids are all wearing the same dress. I provided a selection of dresses that I liked and that I was willing to pay for, and between the three of them they decided which one they would wear. Actually, they narrowed it down to two, and then I decided to go with the less expensive of the two.

my bridesmaids have a ton of freedom in what they wear. If it’s a shade of blue (just not electric blue) than they are good to go. I want to go shopping ndividually with each bridesmaid though, just for the experience!

My bridesmaids (3) have different body types. They will all be wearing 3 different dresses in the same color/fabric. They dresses are all somewhat similar and strapless. I let them pick the dress that they felt most comfortable in.

I prefer mismatched dresses in shades of the same color and I prefer non-“bridesmaid” dresses, so I picked a neutral color (I was choosing between black, grey/silver, and nude/beige/taupes and got input from a few of them), set general length (short), and style (cocktail), then put a bunch of possibilities on a Pinterest board. It’s been great and has helped some bridesmaids to get expensive dresses for way on sale. They’ll all just double-check w me before it’s too late to return and can even wear a dress they already own.
We’re doing the same thing for shoes too. It’s working really well so far and I’ve gotten no complaints.
