I had my bridesmaids wear a convertable dress and they each wore it in the style of their choosing except the Maid/Matron of Honor was the only one that wore it strapless so she would stand out from everyone else. I as lucky cause my whole bridal party (6 girls) are all small so the dress looked great on each of them so that made it alot easier!

@cbgg:  I am a fan of the same dress but in different colors, as long as the colors go together. I don’t know why but I am not a fan of the same color, but all the bridesmaids in different dresses.  I think it makes each girl really stand out bc all their dresses are different and makes the bride stand out less.  Where as if all the girls are wearing the same dress, the different colors, or all in 2 different colors…doesn’t stand out as much to me..:)

For our wedding the bridesmaids all wore the same colored infinity dress, but wore it different ways. I liked the idea of having a mismatched look, but the style and fabric of an infinity dress also accomodated a pregnant bridesmaid. 🙂

@cbgg:  Our BMs wore the same fabric and design but with varying necklines that fit their body types the best. It looked great in photos and everyone was comfortable.

@cbgg:  oddly enough, all of my bridesmaids are around the same size (0-4) and the same height (5’3″ to 5’6″).  I went dress shopping with just one of my bridesmaids (the others are out of town) and picked the dress that looked the best on her (and me) for all of them to wear.  I am paying for the dresses.  Zero complaints.

I didn’t really care for the uniform look of everyone havign the same dress. I gave my girls their pick of any of dress that was satin and plum colored. There’s just no way I could find 1 dress that would be flattering on 4 different body types.

@cbgg:  I’m asking my girls to wear grey dresses. Period. That’s it.

Now… because my girls are all 25+ and rather conservative dressers I don’t have to worry about anything else. But if I had younger/wilder maids, I’d probably add “not strapless, at least tea length, not too much boobage and appropriate for a church wedding” (although I’m not getting married in a church… that’s just the standard I’d like to set).

I don’t care what fabric it is. I don’t care if one person is in charcol grey and another is in light silver. I don’t care if someone is wearing a floorlength satin gown and another is in a chiffon sundress. I want them to wear something they like, feel comfortable in and will wear again. My BFF/MOH is actually taking her chiffon empire waisted wedding dress, cutting it to tea length, dying it grey and wearing it in my wedding! I think it’s awesome!!

I only have two bridesmaids so they are wearing the same dress. They chose the dress with me – my only requirements were short and navy. They have similar body types so the same dress was flattering on both of them.
