Just deal with it, it is not that serious. Im sure she didnt do it to mortify you, she did it because she probably likes it.

I don’t see a problem…

Personally, I have bright red hair and I love it! I don’t think you should have mentioned anything about her hair color to her cuz it may have offended her. That is more than likely her style since she chose it and you should either accept it or don’t have her as a bridesmaid.

Family or not, if anyone asked me to change the color of my hair for a wedding I would not cuz then I would not remain true to the person I am.

Red hair color does fade so quickly though so it will definitely fade in that time period. However, she may choose to dye it again right before the wedding.

@Oneeleven: Thank you.  Read the whoooole thread, lazy posters 😉

Just FYI, I’m a lazy poster sometimes, too.  But when the thread is a few weeks old and just resurfaced, there’s probably an update involved somewhere.

Usually people have to dye their hair every 6 weeks about, so she’ll likely have to dye it again before the wedding anyway :)… maybe you could suggest like a red-brown for the wedding because she’ll already be redying it? She is your sisiter afterall…

um… you can make your BMs wear the dress, pay for the dress, and same for their shoes. you could even demand they wear certain colored underwear… but that’s all clothing.

i don’t think you should be able to dictate their other physical appearance (like hair color) really. sorry. even if she dyed it bright green.

that’s just my personal opinion though…

i used to have brunette hair with pillarbox red chunks in it. my sister said that i had to dye it for the wedding or not be a bridesmaid! of course i obliged – i was a little huffy about it to begin with but i could see her point. i got bright blond put through it instead which she much preferred 🙂

That is nuts, you can’t ask her to dye her hair for your wedding. I really don’t get it why people seem to think that being a bridesmaid means that you have to base every decision off of someone else’s wedding…This is as bad as the girls that get ticked when a Bridesmaid or Best Man gets pregnant!

Ha ha!!  One of my bridesmaids did this too!!!  Bright red!!!  I didn’t find out until I saw her for the wedding (she lived out of town).  No need to stress about it or ask her to change it!  The day will still go on and it might even even be funny looking back on it!!  : )

my SIL (always a brunette) bleached her hair WHITE before our wedding. i was pretty annoyed because she has a history of making things about herself (not the only incident, wedding-related or otherwise) so I shouldn’t have been surprised. i never said a thing because my Mother-In-Law said it all to her before i even saw it! i think my Mother-In-Law was more upset than i was.

a year later, it’s not a big deal at all and even more surprisingly, she still has the super light hair!

OP: glad you could talk it out. either way (red hair or not) don’t let it effect your wedding too much!

It might tone down a lot.  One of my coworkers colored some bright red streaks in her hair and they have faded to a reddish colored hair color now.
