So this is basically a follow up to http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/friendpossible-bm-drama that I posted, but here’s a quick rehash in case you don’t want to read:
2 of my potential BMs were best friends for years, but they had a huge falling out a year ago, and now they DESPISE each other.
Anyway, I wanted to get the ball rolling with the wedding, and since it’s been a year since the fall out, I sent out “Will you be my bridesmaid?” notecards in the mail, and all but one accepted happily.
She sent me an unrelated text bashing the other Bridesmaid or Best Man literally a minute after I dropped the cards in the mail. So I went ahead and told her that I was asking both of them to be in the wedding and that I’m not taking sides, just that I love them both and hope they would be willing to stand up for me without punching each other in the face.
So then she says she “needs time to think about it and not act instinctively”. I told her to take her time, and the conversation is over. This was a week ago, and I appreciate her taking the time to think about it rationally, but I haven’t heard a word since then. I figure I’ll give her a month and see what’s up…hence the Bridesmaid or Best Man limbo!
I guess I could’ve forseen this, but at this point I’m almost (guiltily) hopeful that she refuses since that would be less strain on everyone. I probably should’ve discussed this with her before I formally asked her to be a Bridesmaid or Best Man, but I thought I would ask before assuming. Maybe I’ve already gotten my answer…
