- Wedding: July 2012
So my Fiance has yet to pick a Bridesmaid or Best Man or groomsmen. Not a big deal as the wedding is next July and I’m only have 1 Maid/Matron of Honor and 1 Flower Girl.
Everyone wants him to pick his father as his Bridesmaid or Best Man, as he basically has no real close friends. The only person we really see on a regular basis is my Maid/Matron of Honor. However, he is pretty convinced that having family as Bridesmaid or Best Man would just say he has no friends and he wants it to be reciprocal (since my sisters aren’t in the Wedding Party, although my Flower Girl is my niece/goddaughter. My mom thinks its more natural to have family in the Wedding Party than friends, but he’s set against it. He is also an only child.
So there are probably three candidates at this point. Two are female friends, one from college and one from high school but he hasn’t seen either in a couple of years, although I guess they text and talk on the phone sometimes. The third candidate is his best friend from elementary school. I think they’ve only talked a couple of times online since they started college (FI is 26).
I’m wondering, is it terribly weird and awkward to pick someone as a best man who you haven’t seen in years and don’t really talk to or spend any time with anymore? Obviously, it is totally up to him but I wanted to see peoples’ thoughts on this.
