I’ve never actually heard of an “usherette,” but I’m sure it will be cute!

I would just ask her to get any dress that matches your colors.

I assume she’s standing on the groom’s side?  I’ve seen pictures of usherettes wearing the same colors as the groomsmen, eg all the guys are wearing grey suits, she wore a grey suit and the bridesmaids wore the other wedding color.  I kind of liked that.  I don’t know what their story was behind it though (maybe it was a groom’s sister who he wanted to be apart of the wedding so it would make sense she was on his side).  Maybe you could ask her if she were okay wearing different colors from the other Bridesmaid or Best Man.

my friend is a ‘hostess’ in my wedding, as in a female usher.. she is wearing the same dress as the bridesmaids, still getting her hair and nails done, same shoes, etc.. our usher is wearing the same suit as the groomsmen so why would she wear a different dress?

I don’t understand why it would be a big deal to have an uneven number if you have more female friends than male friends. I feel like it’s singling her out to ask her to stand with the men…like she’s the least important female.

I’ve been to so many weddings where the BMs either walked themselves down the aisle, or there was a Bridesmaid or Best Man on each arm of a groomsman or two if you want them escorted.

I’d do for her like i did for any other girl in the wedding party.

I would just have an uneven number of attendants.

Question;  if you have an usher why caint he just Groomsmen instead?(if you insist on an even number)

I would lean towards asking her to be a bridesmaid and just having an uneven number, I’m having 6 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen and don’t think it will be a big problem.

I’ve seen usherettes at a few weddings before and don’t think it’s odd at all. They usually walk with the usher and wear their own thing, with perhaps a wrap, sash, or jacket that matches with the rest of the party.

@hid-den: “To hell with even numbers…I’ve always wanted you to stand up with me on my wedding day!” I doubt she’d mind 🙂

It’s not like it’d be a last minute change since your wedding isn’t coming up soon. I don’t think that would be rude at all.

I am actually also having an usherette and she is going to be in the same dress as the rest of the BM’s just cut knee length rather than floor length, and it will be in an accent color.

we are having our dresses custome made to these few changes were not a huge deal.

with your dresses I would put her in the same dress just in black
