This is just a post to hopefully ease some of the fears out there for any brides-to-be who are nervous that they’re not giving enough to their ‘maids or that their presents won’t be good enough. I was so worried because I can’t afford to gift them all hair and makeup, or a luxury purse, or pay for their hotel rooms. I know that there are brides out there who can do this (and that is really wonderful!), but as much as I want to give them large items, our budget just doesn’t allow it.
So, I gave my Maid/Matron of Honor her gift after my bridal shower this weekend because she’s pregnant and will be full-term on our wedding date (and won’t be able to fly up again for our wedding, which is bittersweet), and despite all of my nervousness and anxiety about the gifts not being sufficient… she LOVED them. I gave her a small lovely clutch filled with some goodies and her name hand sewn on the inside, and a locket with a quote reflecting her importance to me tucked in (an idea stolen from 100 Layer Cake). It was all just perfect. She could really tell that I thought hard about it all, and really cared. It’s true that all my love and thoughtfulness mattered most! I made sure that my gifts were personal, so it didn’t matter that I couldn’t spend hundreds on each of them. So, don’t fear! Your ‘maids will genuinely appreciate your gifts even if they’re on the “budget” end, like mine!
