I have a BMI if 30 which is obese. I have always been a little heavier than I look, but I wouldn’t put myself in the obese category 🙁

The only full body pics I have are of me in wedding dresses lol

@DeadUtopia:  You do not look “obese” at all! You look rocking in that dress too, btw!

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose:  Thanks! I know I’m not skinny, and I’m smart enough to know that there are a ton of factors that go into it, but seeing my BMI still stings a little LOL

@DeadUtopia:  I know exactly how you feel. My BMI use to say I was overweight. I didn’t think I was though & still don’t think I was. *Shruggs shoulders* lol I weighed 138 at that time at 5’3.

@AlwaysSunny:  Thanks for that link.  Mostly those women look just like I do in my category.

@Jennawesbren:

@Jennawesbren:  my BMI says im overweight…25.1….and i definitely am not overweight but im very athletic so you can’t always trust this thing.

When I tell people my weight they always laugh and say as if.

My BMI actually says I’m underweight, which is definitely full of crap. I am quite healthy. I’m 5’7″, about 115 lbs, That’s me on the left, I think I look pretty normal!

ohmystars28 That is really cool! It’s amazing the variety of body types that show up for my height and weight! Some people look WAY too skinny, some almost the opposite! Interesting.

@MrsSnowMountain:  You may be healthy, but I certainly wouldn’t call you average! You’re a skinny Minnie! (Not that there’s anything wrong with that…trust me!)

@Mrs Christopher:  Thanks for that link… I checked a few calculators and WebMD  had one that allowed you to input a few different categories such as gender, activity level, pants size, weight, height and it came back as a BMI of 20.1 for me, 5’8/132(ish) pounds.

According to that chart.. I am on the lower end of my heights BMI range for a “normal” weight or ratio. I definitely do not feel like I am anywhere near or close to being on the underweight side of things.  My weight can fluctuate 3-5 pounds depending on time of the month, water retention, ect.. and according to a few of the charts I looked at, that puts me at an unhealthy category.

This was taken about 6 weeks ago on our honeymoon and is the only bathing suit picture I have ( and probably ever will have).. and I certainly don’t think that I am running any type of risk of being considered underweight. There is visible body fat, breasts and hips. I am the definition of a PPs coin of the term ” skinny fat”.l

This is one of the only full body shots I could find of myself not in a wedding dress.. and this was New Years Eve 2011 so I was a little heavier here than I currently am:

I pulled this chart from WebMD:

@AlwaysSunny:  Thank you for that. That site totally made my day. I have a horrible body image. People say I am thin, but I can’t stand wearing a bikini and I think my thighs are huge! But all those girls had amazing bodies.

@Jennawesbren:  I dont like the BMI – I have a very muscular build, far from “overweight” and it lists me as slightly overweight.  Same deal with how much I weigh – I go by how I look and feel.

Honestly I would say for the most part BMI is accurate. I am 118 and 5’4 and fall into the lower end of the healthy range, but not by much! I do carry most of my weight in my legs/butt and have always been that way. I also run 4 miles a day/4-5 days a week but wouldn’t consider myself muscular.

I don’t think it’s 100% accurate, but it’s a good “general guideline”. I have a scale that calculates my BMI .

I’m 5″9, 120lbs, and my BMI is 17.7 which is “underweight”. Underweight suggests that you are unhealthy, and I don’t think that is the case with me at all, this is a healthy weight for me. I eat really well and exercise (pilates, cardio, weights) whenever I can. I think that’s pretty healthy…
