Looking for information on the Boathouse @ Prospect Park.
I’m waiting for them to send me a contract, but I really haven’t seen much buzz (pun intended!) about them on the boards.
The venue is beautiful, but a tad pricey (will end up being closer to $30K than i’d like it to be for 100 ppl on a saturday in October 2015)
Looking for advice on the space, and any insight from people who have been there!

I haven’t been but I was considering the picnic house. It’s probably too expensive for us though.
Have you considered it? The photos look really nice and I love the fact that they have a fireplace.

NYbride85: it is very pricey – are you looking to do a night wedding? Have you maybe considering doing a daytime wedding on a Saturday to reduce costs? I am going to a wedding there in June of 2015 but by that point you will have already booked something!!!

NYbride85: I’ve been to a wedding there. I thought it was quite nice. I didn’t like the parking situation though, we had to park a little walk away and walk on dirt and gravel in heels to get to the car, which was difficult.

We ended up booking the boathouse. It was so beautiful and magical there! My biggest splurges are going to be my venue and photographers. I am looking to save and find more budget friendly options everywhere else.
@Daisy- A Saturday night wedding was a must have for us. Glad this worked out! Keep me posted on the June wedding. Curious of pros and cons. There is NO air conditioning at the boathouse so dress comfortable. There are ceiling fans and I believe they bring in standing fans, but thats it.
@sithlady – yeah the parking situation could be better. I’m just happy they have parking at all and that its free. I plan on telling everyone about the parking situation up front so nobody is surprised they have to walk a couple of minutes or on gravel.

NYbride85: It really is a great choice. It’s beautiful there. And good idea letting people know about the walk. It really isn’t a far walk and no problem in normal shoes, but difficult in heels (especially if you’re generally clumsy), had I known, I would have kept a pair of flip flops in my purse.
