So I’m about 7 months out from my wedding and I’m super nervous about my acne on my wedding day. Unfortunately I suffer from back acne and scarring along with some hormonal acne on my face and chest. And of course I picked a strapless dress. When I bought my dress I fell in love with it. I love how it made me feel. I didn’t even think about my back being exposed until recently I’m wondering if I made a mistake. I don’t want to be self conscious on my wedding day.
I’ve considered tanning to help my acne (I know it’s bad, I don’t want to but I’m so nervous). Any suggestions? I know ultimately it won’t matter if I have acne on my wedding day but I don’t want people to judge me. I’ve suffered for many years and I am extremely self conscious about it. Any tips or advice would be great. Thanks bees.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way bee 🙁 this is actually one of the reasons I chose a dress with a high neck and back. But I PROMISE that no one will be judging you on your wedding day, no one will probably even notice!
Are you getting a makeup artist that could also provide foundation coverage for your back and chest? I’m sorry I don’t have any suggestions to actually get rid of it!

I have suffered from that in the past, what worked for me, which could or could not work for you:
-warm water in showers, not scalding hot
-skip the fragrance in soap and just get something natural, same for moisturizer (coconut oil has worked wonders)
-I bought the Murad spray for body acne… and that worked really well for me. You have to use it daily. It may not work for you, since every skin type is different, but it’s worth a shot!!

Currently going through the same thing, bee!! I have no advice other than I’m tanning at the moment and it seems to be helping a little bit, but I feel for you!

Clinique used to have a body bar soap and spray that treats body acne. I haven’t bought it in a while but it worked when I had a bacne freak out. Tanning will only aggravate your skin… and skin damage is not worth it anyway. Maybe a spray tan to conceal a bit if you’re into the tanned look. Worst case scenario you could talk to your Doctor. Hormonal acne is such a PITA.

Make an appointment with a dermatologist. Tanning can aggravate acne–see a professional and begin exploring all of your options. You may be surprised at what you can do with seven months!!

how long will your veil be?
I have to say I have never even thought about back acne, and I have played at countless weddings as a musician. Certainly no one will be judging you for it!

I also second seeing a dermatologist. They may be able to advise on products, medication and/or diet to help. Day of a makeup artist should be able to help conceal some what.

I found I got bumps on my back when I would put in conditioner, and then rinse it out without rewashing my back again after rinsing. Since the conditioner pretty much ran down my back when rinsing and then I would get out of the shower, it was irritating my back (I washed my body first in my shower routine). It helped significantly to wash my back again after rinsing the conditioner.

I also used the Murad body spray. Worked wonders and I had bacne so bad I didn’t think anything would heal it. I understand how you feel. Bacne sucks 😒

i’d go for a derm appointment and also check out skincareaddiction on reddit. if it’s hormonal you could try taking royal jelly and propolis capsules (check with dr. first to make sure it won’t interfere w/ anything). i get kp on my arms and chest and picked a dress with illusion sleeves to cover it. so i definitely feel ya.

I currently deal with hormonal acne as well, I get microdermabrasion facials every 4-5 months and I started using Burt’s bees naturals acne solutions. It has helped!

this is what my doctor recommended! I haven’t used it super consistently but have already seen a little improvement. Also just applying acne creams for your face on your back…my fiance will do it once a week or so. For my face I have used neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair and that’s started to smooth my skin out and get red of acne and scars already. Doesn’t work for everyone but has for me.

I had horrible acne on my back several years ago. What got rid of it was using a 10% benzoyl peroxide wash (like panoxyl) and keeping my hair off my back when conditioning. This is what was recommended by my doctor. That got rid of it remarkably quickly and I haven’t had issues since.
