I’m so sorry you’re having a tough time. What do your doctors recommend in terms of exercise and diet? Have you tried counseling or therapy? Yoga?

@BlondieBrideGirl: I completely understand what you’re going through.  I used to weigh less than I do now.  All I do is cry.  Diets and working out are not helping me. I really don’t even eat that much to begin with and I know it has to do with hormones.  I wish I had advice for you, but I don’t.  Just know that you’re not alone and you can always PM me to vent. (hugs)

But what do they recommend about food and exercise? They’re giving you these hormones, so they better have an idea or two about how to manage the side effects.

You’re absolutely right about keeping an eye on the light at the end of the tunnel, but you should also try to be proactive in the meantime – there could be something that could make you feel better.

@BlondieBrideGirl: It terrifies me to go dress shopping this weekend because I’m afraid I’ll cry for the wrong reasons.

@BlondieBrideGirl: So sorry to hear that you’re feeling this way:(  I agree with Beluga- can your doctors recommend diet/excercises that are conducive with the symptoms that you’re having? If exercising causes too much pain can you do water exercises (ie arobics/swimming/etc).

Also, has your doctor said anything about the medications causing depression or mood changes?  I would ask if adding an anti-depressant to your current medications would be a problem.  They have been extremely helpful for a lot of people I know that take them.

I hope that you are able to feel better about your weight (and in general) soon! *HUGS*

I am so sorry you are feeling so crappy.  I know how it is to have physical problems (horrible knee issue here).  But I second the yoga suggestion.  I know people who are almost crippled with pain and yoga helps a lot.  And it’s good for your mind too-helps get rid of those negative thoughts.

@BlondieBrideGirl: What about the arm bike? I know a lot of gyms have them. You don’t use your legs at all, you just use your arms. Doesn’t burn as much as walking/running but at least it’s something.

Don’t get too down on yourself. Make sure to eat healthy if you can’t exercise.

I was laid up for almost 3 months with 2 herniated discs in my back. The pain was intense and I could not exercise and I was taking steriods (which lead to weight gain) but I made sure to eat carefully so as not to gain weight so that when I could start working out again I hadn’t back slid a ton.

Dealing with pain and feeling helpless to stop the weight gain is really hard, but you are still in control of what you put in your mouth.

To prove to you that this happens to everyone I have to comment on this one! I have the flip side of the coin but am going through the same emotions. I am now much smaller than I used to be. I lost 175pounds over the past two years. I feel very lucky and blessed to have been able to do that (i had weight loss surgery). HOWEVER my new body is a killer on the confidence. Everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) hangs, I am now about a 6 on top and a 10-12 on the bottom, I once was a 26. That makes dress shopping a living hell.

I have a wedding to go to this weekend and next. I of course have nothing to wear since everything is older. I dropped off three dresses to have them tailored. The first one is newer (bought it a few months ago) and needed the least amount of work. So i picked it up today its still HUGE. The top slides right off. Its also a one shoulder dress (same as my wedding gown) and I feel like I look horrid in it. Which makes me think that I look horrid in my dress. THe other two arent ready and she doesnt know how long they will take or how much the will be. I dont wanna go shopping again, dont wanna spend money when we are trying so hard to save. ect ect ect.

So hang in there, it happens to us all!!!!
