Hi all! I am getting married in a Baptist church. My church is very fundamental and is all about modesty. I have bought a dress that is not modest. It has no sleeves, or straps. So I am asking for some ideas on how to make the dress more modest with out taking away from the dress itself. Getting married some place else is not an option, since I love my church and the people in it. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Bees!
Here is the link to my dress:

If you love the dress the way it is, I would go for a bolero, because you can take it off for the reception. I see you’re getting married in Dec, so no worries about being too hot.

I suggest trying your gown on with mock straps and/or a bolero/shrug to see what you like best. I went with a matching lace bolero for my gown because I am not really a fan of straps on me.

Is modesty going to be something you’re going to be worried about all evening? If so, I’d put straps on it. If not, I’d go for a bolero that you can remove later if you want to. 🙂

I’m still not sure if I will need to wear the bolero through the reception or not. The reception is still in the church, just not in the auditorium… sooo. I am waiting on the pastor’s wife to okay the dress and let me know what I can do with it.

1st of all your dress is extremely gorgeous!
i think you should do thick straps instead of a bolero though.

Some pretty, beaded tulle straps that cover your shoulders but don’t throw off the dress would be really pretty.

I wonder how hard it would be to match the beading to the dress? I agree straps with beading would be best, I just don’t want to ruin it.. 🙁
