Thanks! My future Mother-In-Law got me a really old military etiquette book that the mister has banned me from reading lol. Maybe he won’t mind this!

@LovestheBear, I think I got a dose of that “how to behave like a military wife when your husband’s deployed” crap during our Pre-Deployment FRG Meetings. I’ve never wanted to hit a woman before in my life as bad as that day.
I have a “Military Wife Cookbook” that is pretty cool–old school recipes and stories =]

Oh my gosh…THANK YOU for posting that. I wish I had found this book several years ago. lol I’m going to buy it. My Darling Husband has only 7 more months of active duty, but 3 years of reserves after that…so the book will definitely come in handy!
***Edit…one more thing, beings briefings are so popular in the Army, I want my DH’s leadership to do a briefing on what NOT TO SAY when the leadership is taking a fellow soldiers wife to the airport…It is never a good thing to talk about your near death war experiences (in detail) when a very scared wife is sitting in the backseat of the car (not to mention I’m already sad because it’s going to be another several months until I see DH). Oh my gosh..granted, I know they’re guys and their manly hormones tend to take over the brain, but do you really think I want to hear about how you almost died several times? Uh, thank you NO! lol…silly boys…worst hour long car ride of my life! lol

@ejs4y8 – Ooooh military wife Cookbook? That’s waay more up my alley! What kind of advice did you get on how to behave?? I got a talk from someone about life as an officer’s wife before, THAT was interesting!

I have that book…it’s alright, the author started a website called CinChouse.com, I joined, it was great for a time, but it’s forum based and very catty lately. Be careful if you do join. Also, MilitaryOneSource gives you 10 free books of your choice (off of their lists) with free shipping as well, a year. Other good books include:
Separated by duty, United in Love
Going Overboard: The Misadventures of a Military Wife
Help! I’m a Military Spouse I Get a Life Too!
I have all of those!

@lovesthebear, i was told my job is to “stay home, don’t go out, and think about your husband”. Um….they told us our places weren’t “out” and to stay away from bars and stuff like that. It was just funny b/c i was in college and i leaned over and said, “you don’t really expect me to stay home by the phone do you?” and he said, “oh god no, please go out and be normal” haha.
They also advised us NOT to move back home with our parents and to get jobs, go to college, don’t spend your husband’s money, stuff like that. It was kinda lame.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I never go to those FRG things. They make me mad, especially when they try to tell you how to act and how you need to behave, etc. No thanks. I have enough to worry about without all their stuff on my shoulders.

Another good book is “The ARMY WIfe Handbook”, that is if you are married to a army soldier…

Also “Confessions of a Military Wife” By Mollie Gross ! It is sooo funny. She was a Marine wife so Marine girls out there might enjoy it more but it relates to everyone. I laughed the whole time I read it. I had it sent to me from another Marine Fiance and recently sent it to another girl… We had to share it !
