You PICKED A WEDDING DATE and BOOKED A CEREMONY VENUE without even consulting your boyfriend/future fiancee?

I’m glad you’re excited, but my husband would have been PISSED if I had done those things without him.

That sounds like a big risk to take. I know I would have been sad if my H had made major wedding decisions without me. Good luck, I hope it works out for you

I think my SO would understand if I did something like that, since he doesn’t really want to be involved in any of the planning. He’s pretty much trusting me there. I hope he’s not mad later, but woo hoo! I bet that’s a HUGE relief.

I have had my venue booked since October (without his input) and I just got engaged. I don’t think its odd at all. Personally, I am comfortable enough in my relationship to know that something as small as a wedding venue (which sorry, but in the big sceme of things is NOT A BIG DEAL) is not going to cause some terrible rift in my relationship. Ignore these other bees that seem to think this is a big deal…and CONGRATS!

my Fiance said he would be pissed if I did that. That’s a decision that should be made together.

EDIT: it’s not about it causing a rift , just kinda goes to character. . .

Sorry sweatheart but it has nothing to do with character, and everything to do with relationship dynamics of different couples. Everyones relationship is different, and what works for one couple will not necessarily work for another.

@eloping:  Exactly. This post is getting under my skin because some people just don’t get it! It is just different personalities!!!

Congrats. Honestly, if you have talked about marriage, the date and all that good stuff, I don’t see whats so wrong with it. And you are right, $600 bucks is not the end of the world.

I think its more about your SO personality and he seems like the type that would be okay with it, and I am sure you wouldn’t have done it knowing that he would get mad over it…otherwise you wouldn’t have done it.

My SO is all wedding out and we are not officially engaged yet, even though we set a date for September. We talk about everything so he wouldn’t be bothered by me doing something like that; he would just see it as me being pro-active and making sure we have a great wedding day.

Glad you got your dream venue!
