- Wedding: June 2011
So, about a month ago my Fiance and checked out a potential venue. It was destroyed during Hurricane Ike, and now they’ve rebuilt a gorgeous facility. When we went to talk to folks about booking it, we couldn’t actually see it (since they were still wrapping up some construction) and the only problem was that the picnic area underneath was a public area, so we couldn’t rent it or block it off. We were majorly bummed, and figured we were pretty much done with it.
Today my younger brother went with me to look at another place not too far from the original, and it was absolutely stunning! It was right on the water, had a large dock, and there was a fountain with lights in the center of the water. Absolutely amazing, except they were totally booked for all of April, May, June, July and August of next year. Holy sheesh. Needless to say, I was really bummed.
I was majorly bummed, but my brother suggested we go down to the beach and just look at the original place again. So, we did. We were able to look in it and walk around, and it’s so great! I want a beach themed wedding, and this place fit everything. I have no idea why I did what we did next, but for some reason I felt that we should drive the 10 minutes to City Hall to check it out as far as renting it went. I’m so happy I did! They had changed the contract so that you could rent and restrict access to the bottom picnic area, and the only Saturday they still had left for June 2011 was the 11th, which was our date that we wanted over all others. As the woman at the desk was writing my reservation into the book for the park, a girl and her fiance came in asking about that same weekend! I sure am glad I followed my hunch on going to City Hall. 🙂
Sorry this is so long, I’m just super happy! Also, here’s a link to a news story about our venue. It doesn’t really show how great it is, but it gives you an idea. 🙂
