Soooo this morning I started researching booking a block of hotel rooms for my guests and I figured that I would try to find the closest hotels to the reception area, so people can stumble head over there after the reception is over. I was reading an article about booking blocks of hotel rooms and they were saying to make sure your guests can check in in time to get ready in their hotel room.
Well, my ceremony (church) and reception site are 27 miles apart (it couldn’t be helped). Should I still just offer hotels by the reception? Or should I get them by the church? Or should I get a couple blocks at both places? I’m just kind of unsure how to proceed.

How are you planning for people to get from the hotel to the ceremony and from the ceremony to the reception?
I guess people could stay at a hotel close to the reception, drive to the ceremony, drive back to the hotel and drop off the car, then walk over to the reception And then back at the end of the night?

I would book close to the reception. If you can afford it it would be nice to get a shuttle from the hotel to the ceremony and back to the reception area.

Book close to the reception. If people don’t want to stay there they can find their own hotel.

@FutureMrsT1221: I would book close to the reception. If there’s no place acceptible close to the reception, you could consider getting a bus to pick people up at the end of the night and bring them to the hotel, but that’s not required or anything. Some hotels offer that as a service though, so it might be worth asking.

@FutureMrsT1221: We booked in our hometown (about 10 minutes away) from the ceremony/reception space and are offering a shuttle. We started our block on Friday – Sunday so people would be able to arrive the night before and not stress.
