Hi girls!  I just wanted to comment and say I was so excited to see other October 2011 brides!  I haven’t seen many and I was getting worried that I was jumping into all my planning and obsessive blog reading too early 🙂  Glad to see we’re on the same page!  How much have you accomplished so far?

hey @jenandchris!! so glad you’ve found our board! haha, i think you are right on track starting to plan. we are almost 1 year and a half out now…eeeeeeeeeeeee!

as of right now i have the reception venue and church booked. THATS IT. i’m starting to freak out actually because I wanted more done by now. My plan is to have the photog, catering, and florist booked by the end of summer.

Its tough though because Fiance and I are living in Pittsburgh right now and the wedding will be in the Chicago area….its a hassle to try to schedule appointments! i see you are living in NY but the wedding is in MA. do you find it hard too or has it been easy peasy? How much have you accomplished at this point?

So glad you joined the hive!!! Laughing

We have the reception venue booked.  I’ve been back and forth with our church a number of times, but don’t have anything confirmed as of yet.  I actually am just starting up my studying to take the bar exam at the end of July – so basically everything else will have to be put on hold until August.  But I think that should be plenty of time – it’s still over a year.  And catering and cake our included with our venue, so I’ll only have photog, florist, and dress as the biggies left.

Fiance are in Brooklyn, but I am originally from, and my parents still live where the wedding will be in MA.  I’ve made a few trips up with him to visit the venue, and the church is my family’s church, so for that we are pretty much all set.  But I think when it comes down to setting up appointments it is going to get tough.  Luckily my mom is VERY enthusiastic and she and I are pretty much on the same page.  Plus, come August, I’ll be unemployed…which is sad, but in a way, helpful, so I should be able to spend some time up there, and hopefully can knock a lot of things out in one trip.

What about you?  Do you find the long distance planning to be tough?

yeah i do find it kind of tough.. maybe more annoying. We don’t fly home that often (trying to save $) and its hard trying to figure out when to schedule appointments with vendors. I want my mom to come along with me to all meetings so between her schedule and mine its been quite a hassle!!

Undecided

we should be moving back *home* in the early fall though (chicago or suburbs..we have to figure out where we want to live too. oh and find jobs. ahhg, stressful!! ) so i’m hoping we will really get moving once we are back in the area. We are traveling home in July and i’m trying to schedule appointments with a few caterers, and florists so i’m hoping to book those and cross them off my list then! phew, we’ll see!
