When did everyone book their officiant?
We are shopping for a government officiant for our wedding in June 2014. There are only 7 officiants in our area, and all of their licences will either be expired by 2014 or they are already booked. I don’t know if I am booking too late or too early.
We are shopping now because we want a third party participant to perform our ceremony, but we can’t even find an officiant available for the date, let alone someone within that who would be comfortable doing this.
Any general advice or experience with officiants? I’m at a loss…

a family friend is officiating our ceremony so i dont know much about the process, but im going to assume its too early. and way too early to be stressed! enjoy planning you have plenty of time, when i came to road bumps like that i had to just let it go and move on to something else and everything will fall into place 🙂

Like six months ahead. June 2014, that sounds way too early unless it was your own pastor/religious figure that you wanted to lock in.

I heard that it is one of the first things to book after getting engaged but I had a hard time finding one as well! Some were already booked over a year out, some too pricey (over $500), some wouldn’t drive to our venue outside town etc. We finally booked one (today!!!) after meeting with her. Our date was the only open day she had all year AND during one of the busiest wedding months!! Must have been fate! I’m sure ou will find someone to officiate your special day!
