- Wedding: November 2016
SO and I have been together for over 10 years (highschool sweethearts). We always knew we would get married one day…just not sure when. Lately I have been getting extreme wedding fever. I am just starting my 3rd year of my PhD program, and I feel that getting married while still in school would be the best option for me. Also, we recently bought a house together, so we are really excited to finally tie the knot.
SO is currently saving for my e-ring, and while I am not 100% positive, I am thinking he will propose within the next 6-8 months. We already know where we want to get married (one of my old posts has venue details). I went to this venue yesterday for a private party, and I spoke with the event cooridinator about dates available in November 2016, which is when we really would like to get married. She said that there are only 2 Saturdays available for this month!! I was completely shocked. We had planned to visit the venue for a walk-through in November of this year so that we could get a feel for how it would be (weather, bugs, etc) when we would actually be getting married. Needless to say I am now feeling some pressure.
My question is: Would it be weird to book a venue before I am technically engaged? SO is completely on board with this idea, and so are my parents, who will be helping us pay. If we wind up getting engaged within the next 6-8 months like I am predicting, then we will have a 8-10 month long engagement, which I think is pretty reasonable.
What do you think?
