I’m headed for several long days of travel with my preteens! Any one have any recommendations of good books for middle school age kids? (mine are boys but would love to know just in general what kids are reading)
Interested in self-help, personal development, education, etc but any good recs are appreciated. From my observation, funny books are a hit these days.

The Hunger Games are very popular right now, I enjoyed them as did my step brother and my SO’s 12 year old sister!

i was going to say avoid hunger games – if they are boys get them stephen kings the walk or running man because hunger games is a mix of both of these with a teenage romance

Try any of the Rick Riordan series. The Percy Jackson series is great: he doesn’t know that he is a Greek demi-god, half human/half god. Then, there is the Lost Heroes series, which is another demi-god series, but it focuses on the Roman gods and there is some crossover with the Percy Jackson. Then, there are the Kane Chronicles, where a brother and sister learn that they are half Egyptian gods. Lots of action, history, very entertaining.
