I think back when i was officially waiting 2 years into our relationship with very little progress being made aside from him telling me ‘it will happen’ out of sheer desperation and a need for answers as to whats the hold up? i started reading books about relationships.
primarily about mens biological clocks so to speak when it comes their ‘being ready’ time, compared to a womens.
i read some cheesy ones with not so good advice and i read some that were totally enlightening.
theres also the books that have manipulative tactics to get the ring.
i bought 5 books during that waiting period. i think the main conclusion i took from them all is that a man has to be financially ready to even think of commitment (well thats an obvious one)
these are the 5 i bought:
john malloy – ‘why men marry some women and not others’
sherry argov – why men marry bitches
sherry argov – why men love bitches
steve harvey – think like a man act like a lady
alon gratch -if men could talk, unlocking the secret language of men
did anyone else seek out books, articles during their wait to figure out if they had a ‘broken toy?’ lol while everyone else around them seemed to have a working one. ha.
i like to add im no longer waiting, but thinking back on those days, some of those books did help me during my looong wait, and it made me more understanding of what makes him tick differently.

I’ve been wanting to read Think like a man, Act like a lady by Steve Harvey. I heard it’s a great book.
Did you find the books made you understand things from the male perspective? Did it make waiting a little easier?
I’ve become very impatient, and looking for ways to keep myself occupied while not nagging my SO. Maybe I should take a trip to the bookstore tomorrow!!

it definitely made the wait a bit easier, theyre actually coming out with a movie next month based on that steve harvey book! cant wait to see it 🙂
out of the 5 books i think john malloys book and sherry argovs ‘why men marry bitches’ were very informative and made me understand from my FIs perspective why he waited.
have a highlighter handy if you do make the trip! it had some really interesting insights on the way men tick.

Thanks for the info!! I actually got a pretty big gift card for a bookstore for Christmas but haven’t used it yet…. might get the whole lot!! I loved “He’s just not that into you” by Greg Behrendt, and love the whole perspective of the opposite sex. I’m excited now, something to occupy my time while waiting. Thanks!

Came across this post randomly, and just wanted to say that if you look up “why men marry some women and not others” on google (without quotes), the second link is an outline of the book so you can get an idea of what it’s about. 🙂
