@Ahumgrl:  This is horrible 🙁 you have a very legitimate reason for not being able to go and it’s such a shame she can’t understand. I’m sure there would be others with fathers day things planned? I think she owes you for the dress and also think its very poor expecting you to pay to get hair done for a bridal shower, especially with your circumstances. I hope everything turns out well for you

I would say she owes you for the dress, but I wouldn’t expect her to pay it. That would be a tough situation. Is she the type that would say you “owe” coming to her shower? If so, she might think she doesn’t need to pay you for the dress, even though she’s the one who kicked you out.

I’m sorry to hear your friend wasn’t more understanding about your plans. I do think she owes you for the dress since she is the one asking you to step down.

Do like the other girl on here a week or so ago  that was kicked out of a wedding early, if she refuses to refund you for the dress.  Wear that puppy EVERYWHERE and take pics and post on your fb before the wedding.

Ok, so that is really childish I know.

Well even if you don’t actually do it, you at least can have the satisfaction of knowing you considered it, lol.

Someone else suggested it in a heated thread on here. They said the girl should wear it to the mall, go pump gas in it, grocery shopping in it.  I would go shopping at Walmart in it myself and have fun tagging myself on fb with pics all day long.

Wow – thats nuts. She sounds nuts. One of my bridesmaids originally wasn’t going to be able to make it to the shower OR the bachelorette and it NEVER crossed my mind to ask her to step down. The only thing that crossed my mind was that I was sad that she wouldnt be there because we’d all miss her. But that’s it. It turns out her plans changed and she’ll be able to attend both but she’ll be arriving to the wedding off a plane from europe just before the rehearsal dinner starts which means she won’t be at the actual rehearsal. Still – never crossed my mind to kick her out of the bridal party.

Also, who makes their girls get their hair done for a shower?? I guess if you want to treat your bridal party to some pampering (meaning the bride pays for it) prior to the shower, thats one thing. But forcing everyone to pay to get their hair done? I’ve never heard of that and its a tad bit ridiculous.

Yup, she’s wrong.  And Yup, she owes you for the dress.

You could take to small claims court if you want the money back.  The threat might be enough to make her pay up.

Um… you were going to have to get your hair done for a shower? Who does this?

I doubt this was going to the last absurd requirement for this girl. Get her to buy the dress back from you (she may not put up a fight if she’s planning on replacing you as BM). And consider yourself to have dodged a bullet.

@Ahumgrl:   I made plans with my family before she even told me about the bridal shower. when she began to tell me about it I told her I could do any weekend but FATHERSDAY weekend.

That’s too bad for her isn’t it? SHE knew about the father’s day weekend before so she owes you for the dress and she should have known better than to plan a shower on  that weekend! (Who does their hair for a shower, is the shower going to be all dolled up too? Is she royalty or something? )
