Well I have known for years I would sport boots under my dress. I am a country gal, I hate glitz and glam and really want to be able to pull off a full on wester/country wedding. It totally goes with the theme. I am hoping some other brides are as well because I would love to see some pictures of your dress with boots. I also am not sure if I should buy the boots before the dress to have when I try on the dress. Or wait to find the perfect boots for my dress. Here is a couple of pictures of the boot ideas I like plus the ideas for my dress I am shooting for.

The boots: Brown, preferable worn looking with white embroidery
The dress: flowy for an outdoors wedding. I LOVE the ruffle look of the first dress but the second one looks very traditional and I can’t stop looking at it.
Please post ideas and comments!

I think the feel of the first gown works better with boots. It’s a very dressy gown, but it has a more contemporary look which makes more sense with boots.
It certainly can’t hurt to have the boots with you for trying the dress on. But if you think the dress you pick will influence the shoes you buy, then I would hold off on them.

I had my shoes before I went dress shopping. If you don’t find the ones you like beforehand, I’d just wear a pair that is similar in style.

I’m wearing a really nice pair of heels for the ceremony and switching to my boots for the reception. I’m wearing the boots I already have and wear daily in the wintertime. In real life, they are much more distressed and sooo pretty. My dress is an all lace slim a-line.

Love the idea of boots with your dress. I would probably pick your dress first. It seems more important, and then pick the boots you want to go with the dress. Good luck!

I picked boots first. They work with my reception dress but I’ve found that they may not work with the reception venue (upscale). I’m sad because the boots were extremely expensive and I really wanted to sport my country roots. Perhaps I will just wear them for the engagement photos..

The first pair of boots are to DIE for. And the white embroidery will tie in with your dress and gives them that country-chic wedding vibe.

@smsorens: yes I am leaning towards something more along the line of the first pair. I saw them and was like ‘OMG’ and I don’t say that very often lol

@Anise: I am thinking of buying just a plain cheaper pair of clean simple boots to try on with the dress to get the feel. All the ones I own are old and worn and just wouldn’t go w/ the dress. I need a more traditional boot. Right now I own all round toe and the pointed toe go better with a dress.

I wore my brown and turquoise boots (on the left) under my dress. I had them before I got alterations so that it would be the right length. Sorry I don’t have any pictures yet of my boots with my dress.
