I have not been to Bora Bora but my impression was always that the whole POINT of going there is to just lay around your overwater hut and do nothing but each other.  If you aren’t the relax on the beach type there are zillions of luxurious and beautiful settings that would offer tons to do and be a heck of a lot cheaper.  I really really swear am not trying to be rude when I say this, but you might want to ask yourself if you are just thinking you want to do Bora Bora because of the status it conveys.

We are looking into Bora Bora and I have seen that there are lots of excursions – snorkeling, Jeeps, that kind of thing. Also, the Real Housewives of OC went (this is embarassing to admit) and it gave me the idea to go because while they stayed in overwater bungalos, they were always out and about doing stuff.  It seems to me that Bora Bora is a half lay around/half excrusion type of place.  As far as I can tell there is not a city or area to go into a bum around or to party at night.  The only other thing I have read about it that gives me pause is that food at the resorts is crazy expensive.

aah gotcha.  An overwater bungalow would be an awfully expensive crash pad for sightseeing!

I think Air New Zealand and/or Air Tahiti offer package deals where you get a flight to New Zealand with a stopover in Tahiti for a couple nights.  The Bora Bora upgrades probably make it pricier but if you think you might prefer just a few days there that might be worth looking into.  Maybe Australian carriers offer something similar?

My feeling is that any place can be as boring or as exciting as you want to make it.

I have never been to bora bora, but I will say that I wish I would have gone for at least 10 days on my honeymoon. 7 days was not enough. I give everyone that advice. I wish we would have stayed for 2 weeks.

I haven’t been to Bora Bora, but if you are thinking of going to Australia, you would probably want to go for more than just five days!!

Just got back from 7 nights honeymoon in Bora Bora (4 Seasons) it was incredible. There are a few excursions and snorkeling, watersports, tennis etc and a great spa. It is expensive though! We had an overwater bungalow which was beautiful, really private and romantic, loved it.

I’ve been obsessed with going to Bora Bora ever since I saw one of my favorite blogs post about it (http://www.adashofluxury.com/french-polynesia/)! It seems far too pretty to get bored!!! If I went I would want to just sit and stare at the water! It doesn’t even look real!
