When my fiance and I went, we skipped a rolling carry-on. We each took backpacks (which we could carry on on all flights, no problem) and split one large suitcase for the week. That got checked from our origin to Tahiti, and then again from Tahiti to Bora Bora, no charge either time.

mwd123 :  where to start with air tahiti? Ugh. So basically we had no idea how expensive the fees were (i believe it was $75 per checked bag) AND it was a horrible and loooong flight. Super uncomfortable tight/hard seats, freezing, bad food, and they make announcements throughout the flight LOUDLY and then repeat it in French so it never ends and the next one is just minutes later. Next time we go back we will definitely take a different airline. If u can bring carry ons, try that, but the airline was super strict about the things we needed to check (makeup and hair products) so i HAD TO check my stuff and my husband could barely fit a backpack because everything was full by the time we were able to board so we had to check his duffel bag and we only got to keep my purse and a small backpack bc they could fit under our feet.

mwd123 :  No, no assigned seats on the connecting flight from Tahiti to Bora Bora – you grab whatever seats are available based on the order you board the plane.

Hi Bees,

I just had my week honeymoon in Bora Bora in August. We checked in the big roller boards and just brought small tote bags on the flight ( one tote bag per person and a purse). The airlines are more worried about the weight than the size of the bags. I wrote about my week honeymoon in Bora Bora: You can read here: http://bit.ly/2vPw7v5
