Hello bees,
So here I am thinking about the little saying, “something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new,” and I realized I don’t think I have any of these covered except for the new!
I’m sure that within the next 6 months I can cover my bases, but I’m wondering what unique ideas you ladies have had? Do any of you really believe in this old wive’s tale or do some of you think it’s silly?
I’ve seen cute things like blue “I do” decals on the bottom of shoes and I’m hoping that maybe you ladies can share some of your ideas ๐

I haven’t figured out all of mine yet, either, but it’s fun to plan!
For “something borrowed,” I have heard you’re supposed to borrow from someone whose marriage you admire; I’m planning to ask one of my aunts whether I can borrow one of the rings she wears (she is wearing my grandmother’s engagement ring so I REALLY want to borrow that, of course, but am hoping if I ask the right way she’ll choose it on her own!). She has a strong marriage, and my grandmother and grandfather had the storybook marriage, so it would really be perfect.
For “something blue,” I’m wearing fabulous blue heels ๐
My “something new” is pretty easy since many of the things I’ll be wearing will be new, but if I had to name one I’d say the dress.
My “something old” will probably be my garter–I’m trying to make it myself using lace from FMIL’s mother’s dress. Can’t bring myself to make the first cut yet but I have time.

Something Old: a piece of lace from my great-great-grandmother’s wedding dress which I pinned to the crinoline under my gown.
Something New: my jewelry and gown.
Something Borrowed: a diamond tennis bracelet borrowed from my now-mother-in-law.
Something Blue: welllllll my shoes were purple, but the manufacturer called them “Midnight Blue” … but to be on the safe side, I also wore blue polka-dot underwear!!!

my something blue: is a love charm that I brought back from Japan for Fiance when we were first dating. I have a matching pink one and I’ll probably tie them to my boquet.
something new: I’d say prob. my dress
something old: I think I’m going to wear a headpiece that my gma wore in her wedding.

I like the idea that the something old is something that was a part of a fmaily member’s wedding (that has a successful marriage) I will be using some of the fabric from my grandmothers wedding suit to make my garter.

Good ideas ladies! I think I will have to do some serious brianstorming for the “perfect” items. I really like the idea of having something old from a family member who’s had a good marriage. I think I might call my grandmother and see what she has to say…I’m sure she’ll love the idea ๐

Something Borrowed: Diamond silver bracelet
Something Blue: “Just Married” diamond studded panties I got at my bridal shower =)

Something old – a bracelet my mom gave me that belonged to her mom. I had to get it repaired but my grandma is dead so it was important to me. I know my sisters also have hankerchiefs from our grandmas too.
Something borrowed – I planned to borrow a hanky from my sister with my maiden initial on it but I left it in the car and the ceremony was about to start. It was a moment I will never forget. My other sister ran up to me and popped out her 1 carat diamond earrings and put them in my ear (I have 2 holes) right before I walked down the aisle. This meant so much to me.
Something new – The dress! Everyone I know has used this as something new.
Something blue – I did the blue garter thing, had someone on etsy make a custom one for me. I also painted my toe nails blue, not sure if that would count or not but blue was the color of my bridesmaid dresses.
