I am about to purchase my dress from Country Weddings in Hingham. They were lovely to deal with and the shop is so cute and quiet if you go during the week. I’m not sure exactly what pricing they have available but I believe you can find things for under $1000.  You could easily call and ask them -everyone who works there is super sweet.

I also definitely suggest Vows in Newton … http://www.bridepower.com … they have an amazing selection of dresses at incredible deals. It is a place where it’s "what you see is what you get" so basically if you find a dress you love you have to purchase it because there is only one of them!!  That was a little scary for me but it was great. And they also have a line of their own that is beautiful.

Good luck!

Try House of Brides in Warwick, RI, La Reines in Waltham, Allure in Westwood, Pronuptia in Worcester (this is where I got my dress).

I wrote up a review about them in one of my posts, so good luck:)

I definitely, definitely recommend VOWS! I wrote a little bit about my dress buying experience about VOWS here, here and here! 🙂 Good luck!

Depending on your timeframe and what you’re looking for specifically I have made several Custom Dresses and simpler Gowns for under $1000.  We could talk 😉  Factors that up the price instantly for custom orders with me are: Beading, Lace, more than 5 Fittings (new policy), cathedral trains, massive crinolines, and anything ordered with less than 2 months before the Wedding.

And there’s a Consignment Shop next door to me called Over the Rainbow with some amazing designer gowns for waaaay less than originally priced.

I had a wonderful experience with Manhattan Bridal in Dedham.  It isn’t that far out from the city and the women there each took a personal interest in me and my dress.  They had a pretty good selection and definitely had items that were geared toward the budget bride.

Good luck!!

I don’t recommend the Bridal Secret. I had a terrible experience there. It seemed like they wanted to sell me any dress. Way too much sales pressure to buy a dress. I have to say that they had some nice dresses, but none i really loved. They sold designer gowns at a discount, similar to Vows.

I recommend Precious Memories in Malden. I bought my gown there and my bridesmaid dresses. They offer 10% off of the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses if you order your gown from them. I haven’t done any alterations with them yet (still waiting for the dresses to come in), but i am REALLY rethinking that based on the previous post…

Oh my god luckymag I was just about to post that exact same thing

Judith was the biggest ***** I could ever imagine at Bridal secret…She wouldn’t let my mom, moh or future mil comment on any of the dresses I came out in and when I had one dress on she actually went outside held the door open and smoked a cigarrette right in front me and was yelling stuff back at us….it was awful…I cried went next door had a couple bottles of wine with my mom, future mil, and moh and was good to go…

I had gotten my sisters bridesmaid dress at Precious memories and promised them I would come back for my wedding too…THats where I got my dress…Maggie Sottero it was $800 and I absolutely love it!  They are the nicest people ever! And its super close to my house.
