My makeup artist Kerri was fantastic. She travels to you too. She did myself and 3 bridesmaids last month. She made us all look so awesome. We got so many compliments. Her rates are reasonable too. $100 for the bride, I did a trial in advance for $50 at her home in Waltham. I came home and my fiance said I looked amazing. I without a doubt knew she was the one.  She also was super friendly and awesome to have around the day of. We chatted and hung out with all the gals and it really calmed my nerves!

She does all ethnicities, check out her portfolio with pics:

If you inquire tell her Julie sent you.

I highly highly recommend Bre Welch from Boston, she is known for her high fashion work and print work but I was lucky enough to catch her on her free day to do my wedding.  She was super fun and professional.  She came to my house for a trial and she was on location for me and my maid of honor and my mom (all makeup and hair) on the day of the wedding. I had to change the start time a few times because of changing schedules with the photographer, and Bre was totally happy to accomodate.  She only plans on ONE wedding a day, so she can take her time and make sure she is available with any changes.

She has a vision but is super receptive to suggestions.  I wanted a natural yet polished look and she gave me exactly what I wanted but made me look better than I imagined.  The best part is, unlike some make up artists, she doesn’t rely on just piling on the make up.  At the end of the night when I was washing everything off, I was sooo surprised at how LITTLE there was on my make up remover sheet.  Bre really tries to bring the focus to your best facial features.  She did an amazing job with my hair too.  I had a loose updo and despite all the running around for pictures, everything stayed perfectly in place.

Despite Bre’s uber awesome work and experience she is not pretentious and is super good with emails.  I don’t want to name any names but I contacted some of the “highly recommended” ones in your list and got some really rude replies.  One actually accused me of being a fraud because I said I am living in Hong Kong and the wedding is in Boston.  Another one was so unorganized that I had to send my info (date, time, location, number of people, etc) THREE times before she could confirm her availability and give me a correct quote.

My wedding pics for reference:

For makeup, I used Jennifer Traub:  She is incredibly talented and knows Asian features very well.  She can literally do any look you want. She is from Korea (last name used to be Kim) and currently does a lot of movie sets in the US.  I went back for a makeup lesson, and my friend went for a makeover.  She is fantastic and super nice.

For hair, I used Carol Cho at Vanessa Bridal in Natick, MA.  She has a great eye, and recreated a hair-do I showed her of Angelina Jolie at a red carpet event.  She modified it to suit my features and it was perfect!  Carol is from Taiwan and used to do hair and makeup for celebrities.  I didn’t try her makeup so I can’t comment on it.  Carol also cut my hair before the wedding and it was great.  I will be going back for another cut.  Carol is very patient and very punctual!

Their prices are reasonable, especially for their expertise.  I can’t recommend them both enough!!

For makeup check out Beautiful Faces. Janis is amazing! She has been in the makeup business for over 10 years, and has worked with every culture. She does trials in her studio in Waltham and will travel onsite. Prices are AMAZING compared to other places. Most of all Janis works with her heart–every bride becomes a lifelong friend.
