Need some help here, this is probably a very dumb question but we’re just starting to get into this part of the planning… Fiance and I are both Catholic however we don’t go to church very often. We have decided to have our ceremony in a garden but are unsure who will marry us. Is it correct that a Catholic priest will not marry us outside of a house of worship? Thanks for your help…

Generally, yes that’s correct. You have to get special permission from the Bishop to be married outside, which can happen but it takes a bit of doing. There was a post a while back…not sure where it went but if you search I’m sure you’ll find it with no problem, by a bee that managed to get permission by writing a very heartfelt letter.
Fiance is Catholic, and we’re going to be having an outside wedding and then a convalidation a week later.
