I’m considering doing a boudoir shoot for my FH as his wedding gift. It’s a lot more $ than I expected, between studio costs and the album. But I figure he bought me a beautiful e-ring and I think he’ll really appreciate it (and be surprised). Anyone have experience doing a shoot? How much was it?

@katydid271: I did one, and I had an incredible experience!!! I’d say it was well worth it…it cost me around $1,000 with hair & makeup and everything included, but I’ve seen groupons out there for $80-$150.

Mine was about $600 + tip + outfits for a photography package (including hair, makeup, hotel, professional photo book on cardstock). I loved it!

I do these with a photographer friend of mine for ladies of all walks of life and for all kinds of reasons….we always strive under the manta, “If a woman feels beautiful, she is!”
I know that costs vary by where you are, but a reputable photographer with a good editing program and nice studio are worth the money, just like a makeup/hair artist is worth every penny!

OMG I didn’t realize they were that expensive! How are they any different than any other photo shoot?! (excluding the hotel expensive of course)

Mine is $450 for hair/makeup, 1 hour of shooting time, 2 sets (it’s in her studio), and a 6×6 album (which I might upgrade to an 8×8). Disc instead of album was $400.
It’s a boudoir marathon though so it’s a little cheaper, I think normally it is $575+ (for the same, but 90 minutes shooting and 1 extra set; with a disc instead of an album)
Haven’t done it yet so I can’t tell you the experience!

I did a boudoir session and I loved it – it gave me a lot more self-confidence, I got to know our wedding photographers better, and it really was a perfect present for my DH. It cost $400 for a 1-hour session, and I also had to book a hotel room (I booked one through Expedia for $100). The $400 package included a disc with 100 edited images, and I had full rights to them, so I made my own photo book through Shutterfly and with a Groupon, the book was, like, $10. If you’re getting an expensive quote, shop around – but make sure it’s with someone you’re comfortable with. Both of our photographers are women, and I had already done my e-session with them so I felt comfortable with them. I’m not sure if I’d be okay doing a boudoir session with a man I’d never met.

My photographer did “mini” sessions – like a weekend marathon session. She booked a hotel room and had one after another, hired a hair/makeup artist. She charged $250, but gave an early booking discount to $185. I spent probably $100 more on accessories/lingerie. I wore a silky nightie, corset/underwear and also a dress. I did a sexy pinup look. I felt so great about myself afterward.
This was actually a gift to myself and I loved them. My fiance loves some of them, but thinks that I’m too made up (well that was the look I was going for), but there were options to do natural or whatever. Sooo, I’m trying to book w/my photog a separate session to do for him for the wedding, but I’m hoping she doesn’t charge a ton. I told her I’d do my own hair/makeup or I’d go get it done myself and that I’d find a place, hoping to keep the costs down.

I do boudior for clients. I suggest them to bring a friend or two and some champagne 🙂 Make sure you find a female photographer, you’ll feel more comfortable. If you are going to spend the money – make sure you like their work and it’s artsy and not trashy 🙂 Album, Makeup and hair included also.

I did one when Fi was deployed – my photographer was just out of college though, so it was about $250 all said and done. I felt great and highly recommend it.

Mine was “free” (part of my wedding package), I did the shoot at my house. I designed and printed the album at home (digital scrapbook), the photo paper was probably $15. I paid to get my hair done (this doubled as my hair trial) and that was about $90 (shampoo, cut and style), so total cost for me was $105. Like other PPs have said, get a good photographer that knows how to shoot boudoir. I LOVE the way my pictures turned out and I can’t wait to give the album to my Fiance as his groom’s gift.

I’m getting a sort of boudoir shoot for my Fiance, but it’s a pin up session (: it’ll cost me about 400 dollars but they do my make up, hair, dress me up, and I get a cd of pictures. I’m super nervous. I keep having NIGHTMARES about it.
