Check with your photographer before you go out and buy stuff. My photographer does a lot of boudoir shots, and she actually has a lot of accessories and props on hand (for example, she has faux pearls that she lets people use in their shoots, as well as a funky vintage top hat with a birdcage veil.)

So this is obviously going to be a long-past-helpful reply for jaylii9 directly, but seeing as how this thread comes up on Google when searching I thought I’d share a few thoughts and hopefully help some others with the same question! For reference, I’m a part-time photographer and the co-founder of Nearly Naked, where what we do is swim and boudoir jewelry! πŸ™‚

First, farmersdaughter has a good suggestion. Definitely check with your photographer! A lot of boudoir photographers have amassed a collection of various clothes and accessories that you can wear for your shoot. And the nice thing about sexy jewelry is that one size really does fit almost anyone.

When looking for boudoir jewelry, look for products that accent the parts you want to highlight. Be wary of too much color as it can distract from whatever great outfits you are wearing. On the other hand, something with a bit of character, with filigree and lace can definitely be an nice complement to fine lingerie.

What is the style of your shoot? What is your style? There are many possible styles but a great boudoir photographer will have a style of his or her own, and you are likely working with them because you feel like it resonates with you. Is it classic pinup? A more vintage 20s feel? Completely modern? Every look is going to have different lighting, sets, and clothing so look for jewelry that fits the style. If the photo shoot is not going to be a surprise, then you can pick a piece together!

So the original post was a few years ago, but today Pinterest is of course an amazing resource as well. Create a board and do an image search. There are SO MANY amazing boards out there with outfit and jewelry inspiration. We’ve got one here, for example, but a quick search will turn up many more. You may have to hunt around a little bit to find the jewelry amongst the outfits, but it isn’t like that is going to be a real chore, looking at amazing beautiful inspiration photos all afternoon. πŸ™‚ Check again with your photographer. A lot of great boudoir photographers are using Pinterest to build up a way to share many ideas. Lynn Clark Boudoir in Denver, for example, has an amazing collection of boards.

So what kind of jewelry works? Long pearl strands are of course a classic look and never go out of style. But there are so many amazing options out there. How about a body chain? You might not wear one to the beach but a good body chain can be really amazing and elegant when worn with a great piece of lingerie. They go well beyond the simple sexy body chains you see at the beach and into elegant, ornate, boho, and many other styles. You may have bracelets but how about a hand chain? Also called bracelet rings or slave bracelets (we hate that term so we don’t use it!) these attach from your middle finger, across the back of your hand and around your wrist as a bracelet. Quality hand chains are actually very comfortable, and can be very sensual when posing for boudoir photos. Quality barefoot sandals foot jewelry, too, can be incredibly sexy and add a touch of focus at the end of your legs. And as jaylii9 already mentioned, beautiful long drop or lariat necklaces are a great option as well.

As for where to get the jewelry? Great suggestions in the thread so far. There are a lot of options if you want to try to search for a piece that can work. However, while of course biased, I’d suggest taking a look for quality jewelry designed to be worn with lingerie or with nothing at all! It may cost a bit more than something you’d find on a shelf at Kohl’s, but you’re already investing your time and money in something special for your significant other. You’re probably getting some amazing new lingerie, in the time and cost of the photo shoot, let’s finish it off with amazing jewelry that will look incredible in the photos and you can wear for years to come. πŸ™‚

Imagine this … you’ve arranged for the photo shoot. You’ve primped and prepped yourself (and you are going to LOVE the shoot, btw… there is nothing quite like being spoiled for the day and knowing that you look and feel amazing!). You’ve kept this a secret from your husband or boyfriend (or wife or girlfriend) knowing that he or she is going to be both surprised and incredibly excited about the photos you are creating for him or her. Now imagine this … you’ve shared these photos, you know you have them together, and one better, you have the new lingerie set and this incredibly sexy jewelry set that you have in the photos to wear for them. And best of all, you can wear this jewelry any time, and it is a shared secret between you. Imagine being out to dinner for a date night out, and being able to reach over and touch the back of their hand, while you are wearing this beautiful filigreed hand chain. It is bright, shiny, and beautiful. It complements your outfit. And all they can think of is the photos of you wearing them. Your dinner might end early. πŸ™‚

I hope this helps some others that find this thread. And jaylii9, perhaps it is time for another boudoir photoshoot. πŸ™‚
