I haven’t done them nor do I plan on doing them since I do not have the body for that kind of thing but since becoming a member of WB, I’ve learned quite a bit about them so I can answer some of your questions…

-How do I begin looking for a photographer? (is there a special type?)Well for starters, I’m sure you’ll want a woman. I just googled boudoir photography and the closest larger city to me and came up with a handful of results.

-Where did you take yours? A lot of photographers have their own studios where you could take them. I’m sure if you’d be more comfortable in your own home, they would be open to that too.

-How long before the wedding? You’ll want to give the photographer enough time to do the editing. I would estimate maybe 4-6 months before (maybe I’m way off on this one).

-What did you wear? Any sexy outfits you like. If your Fiance has a hobby, its always cute to try to incorporate that into it.

-How did you give them to your fiance? Most of the ones that I have seen were given to the groom the morning of the wedding. They are normally put in a box with a note saying “For your eyes only” so he doesn’t open it infront of his guys. Talk about awkward!

So my questions are..

-How do I begin looking for a photographer? (is there a special type?)

I did a google search for photographers in my area that did boudoir shots (not all photographers will).  Some specialize in these shots, which is the one I’m going with because they will do your hair/makeup and also have clothes you can wear and the location/props.

-Where did you take yours?

See answer above – my photographer specializes in boudoir shots and will take them in her studio w/her props.

-How long before the wedding?

My wedding is in September and I’m thinking I will have mine taken this summer (so a few months ahead of time).

-What did you wear?

Whatever you want, or some photographers provide outfits. I’m hoping to have shots in special panties, risque outfits, his favorite jersey, etc.

-How did you give them to your fiance?

My photography package includes a small book of photos.  I plan to present the book to him either before his bachelor party (so he remembers what he already has at home) or right before the ceremony when we have our “alone time.”

-Did he know you were taking them?

No.  I want it to be a total surprise.

I actually did them as a surprise for our first anniversary and I loved it so much I’m actually planning to do a second shoot with some friends of mine later this year.

Definitely start with google to find photographers in your area – see who shoots boudoir pics, because it is a specific style of photography.  Then look at websites and get a feel for what the photographer’s style is – some are borderline pornographic, some a whimsical, some are airbrushed within an inch of their lives!  I also had a male photographer, with a female assistant, and had no problems with them.

Mine were taken at my photographer’s studio, which was set up with all kinds of fun props and backdrops.  Others require you to get a hotel room or do it in your own home.

Turnaround times can vary – though they’re generally faster than wedding photographs because there is less to edit!  I had a gallery within two days and my finished book within three weeks.  If your wedding is around a major holiday or a really popular wedding time (June!)  definitely give yourself more time.

Depending on your personal style and your photographer’s style you can wear anything from sexy dresses to skimpy lingerie.  I wore one of my husband’s work shirts, an evening gown, a sundress, a babydoll set and a bra and panty set of pink polka dot satin.

I gave them to him wrapped the morning of our anniversary – Definitely a hit!

Google in your area….look at their work. Do you like their style? Male or female photog if this matters to you.

-Where did you take yours?

Some photogs have studios – others will come to you.

-How long before the wedding?

This depends. Do you want an album built or just photos? anywhere from 3-6 months ahead and this will also very depending on who you go with.

-What did you wear?

Sexy lingerie, his fave team jerseys and ball caps, etc. Does he wear a uniform to work….you can get creative there. Button up White shirt tie and white cotton panties/boy shorts – classic! booty shorts, knee highs….the ideas are limitless!

-How did you give them to your fiance?

Wedding Gift! Delivered to him via maid of honor with instuctions “For your eyes only”

-Did he know you were taking them?

Make it a surprise

-Anything else I should know?

If you can afford it, have your hair and makeup done professionally. Wear loose fitting clothes to the shoot – jeans and tight fitted stuff can leave those red indentation red marks. Research your poses – have an idea with what you like. Have fun – you will love this and its not as scary as you think!

-How do I begin looking for a photographer? (is there a special type?) I didn’t want to spend a ton of money, so I did DIY. I just took a tripod and used the timer on my camera. Then I made a photobook out of them.

-Where did you take yours? Lol, in my bathroom! We have a really fun shower curtain that I wanted to use as my background.

-How long before the wedding? I gave it to him for his birthday, not the wedding so I don’t have any suggestions for this.

-What did you wear? All things I had around the house. Mostly lingerie, and his jersey from his favorite football team.

-How did you give them to your fiance? I wrapped it up and gave it to him for his birthday present.
