I found it a bit outrageous that the veil that I wanted (A very simple cathedral length with blusher) was $200.00. I could have easly bought the veil, but I couldn’t bring my self to spend that much on flippin tulle!!! So my next mission was to find “Diamond white” tulle to match my dress…Not a store in town carried the color!….So I decided to go online and purchase the fabric online. I was able to buy 10 yards (30 feet) of tulle for 25 bucks!!! That was enought to make 2 cathedral length veils with blushers!! (Which would have been $400.00 at the bridal shop I went to!) Then I decided to look up how hard it would be to make it myself….It would take no more than an hour of work, tops. (I swear im not a cheap freak, but for some reason this issue was really bugging me!) Anyone else making their veil becasue they are protesting spending a crazy amount on tulle?
(I also understand that some veils are very elaborate so the price may be justified on some becasue of the labor put in to it…)

I have been seriously considering this. I really want a cathedral veil, but dang they are EXPENSIVE! I would love to see what it looks like. How did you go about making it?

I’m doing the same! Mostly because I can’t decide whether I want a birdcage veil or a fingertip veil. Although I found some great deals on etsy so far it’s only costing me $30 for enough tulle and combs to make 4 veils. Score!

Wow! Congratulations!! I was going to make it myself too but I didn’t have to. Someone gifted it to me. But they didn’t spend an outrageous amount because they were vacationing back home and got it for TONS cheaper.
MOST of the veils in our N.A markets are not elaborate enough to be priced at $200 (Cathedral or not!) It’s despicable!
Can’t wait to see your veil photos!

Please post photos of your diy veils! I really want to make a cathedral veil but I’m scared that it won’t turn out. I would love to see any photos – even process photos of you working on it. 🙂

My mom made mine. I couldn’t spend that much on a veil either. Can’t wait to see pics.

I’m also going to make my own veil. I have the fabric, just haven’t had a chance to buckle down and do it.
I got my fabric from Denver Fabrics (www.denverfabrics.com), which also has a specific bridal fabric section. Just in case anyone is looking!
