(Closed) Bought a dress, but fell in love with another…

You liked the first one enough to buy it. Stick with it.

Selling a dress is really hard, don't even bother. Just wear it.

Buy the damn dress. You only get married once.

    You are crazy.

Get the dress if you can afford it without reselling the other, just because it takes so long sometimes.

And for gods sake, post a pic for us!!😀

You only get married once (okay a nice sentiment at least)  Get the dress of your dreams; we all make mistakes.  this one can be fixed with a few bucks.

I agree that I’d you can afford it without making anything off selling the old one go for it. Then if you do sell it’ll be an added extra nut rheres no guarantee.

If not, maybe you can get some layers taken out of your dress to reduce the poof?

It depends on how tight your budget is, but I don’t think its crazy to change your mind and buy the dress you love.

I bought the first dress I ever tried (second hand also) and I am MAJORLY undecided as to whether I will actually wear it I have been putting off alterations until I can be sure its the one I want.

Only you will know financially how much it will effect the budget but if you can, I think buy the new one if you can’t get it out of your mind.

Severe dress regret will engulf you if you do not buy the dress of your dreams…the perfect dress! Forgive yourself for getting swept up in the moment and list that dress for sale.  It will be someone else’s perfect dress.

I give you full permissin to get the one you really want.

The point is, I don’t love the dress I have, and I have the opportunity to buy a dress that I love. But buying a second dress will obviously blow my budget.

I think you’ve actually answered your question! You have the opportunity to buy a dress you love – so buy it. There are plenty of ways to save on budget in other areas – this is WORTH IT. This is coming from someone who is very Type A and always sticks to the plan/budget. I almost settled for a dress everyone I went shopping with cried over but I didn’t love, but wanted to please them. Man am I glad I didn’t! Yes, try to sell the previously bought dress, maybe consider another area where you could save a bit of money (take a look at flowers, stationary, favors, etc.) and buy the dream dress!! 🙂 I think you can definitely make it work.

everyone is on a budget, and miscellaneous wedding costs come up no matter what. Cut costs somewhere else or just write it off as the cost of getting your dream dress.

I think it’s smart you didn’t post pictures actually because people have SUCH different tastes with wedding dresses that it would just add a whole other level of confusion.

I would say buy the dress you love and try to sell the other. If it’s not too outrageously over budget I think it’s worth it. I thought that I didn’t really care about ‘the dress’ until I found THE dress, and it really did make a difference for me on the day.

Normally, I might think this is crazy, but the $ amounts are probably not going to make or break your wedding, right? Unless you are on a very tight budget, in which case, you better go with the first dress.

I realized afterwards that telling you to buy the dress of your dreams is easier said then done. Try to sell the original for what  you can.  See if it isn’t too late to cut back on other things.Ie. make your Veil which is like at least a $75 saving.  Switch to cupcakes instead of a wedding cake.  Send out simple diy printed invites(buy them 1/2 off from Michaels they even have ribbons).  Can hubby to be get a better deal on rentals or even if the other guys are wearing other suits hecan be different and get a great deal on a suit even if the boys are wearing grey or navy the groom can wear black and it is far easier to find a great sale suit for one than 5 matching ones.  Can you choose a slightly cheaper entree ie teak the ny steak instead of the prime rib or whatever?  Skip the limo and rent something cheaper or get someone to drive you?  DIY your bouquets or centerpieces or both.  All of these can help make up for the dream dress.
