Me! I utterly fell in love with an Art Deco dress that would look gorgeous at our venue. It’s never been worn and as far as my understanding goes it was created as a sample dress (but to show off the collection at shows not for a bridal shop). It’s in an unusual colour (grey/silver) and it’s the right height/size for me. and a bargain. Couldn’t pass it up and even though I tried, it was still there four months after it went online (it’s not a hugely well known designer and it’s quite unique). I haven’t got it yet but I’m nervous to see how it looks and fits! I say go for it, bee. You’ll save a fortune!

oh, I did! I LOVE my dress (wedding was last Saturday). I got it from Anya Dionne on etsy, and couldn’t see it in person as she is based in Canada and I’m in Australia. I’ve posted pics before in the ‘unique’ dress thread, and it’s not to everyone’s taste… but if you are confident with what you order, and you know your body and what suits, you should be fine πŸ™‚

I had a custom dress made from photos. It didn’t work. I ended up with a secondhand dress from preloved 2 weeks before the wedding. My advice would be to see the dress on you before buying. Or make sure there is a good return policy.

brittanyjaybee :  I bought my dress from Etsy!! It was the best decision I could have made, as its the most beautiful dress I have ever worn (after trying on 50+ dresses in bridal salons) and for a very reasonable price. That being said, I think this can massively depend on the seller and your body type, as I have also heard some horror stories about online dresses. I am definitely one of the lucky ones, and am over the moon with my dress πŸ™‚

I (sort of) did! I fell in love with a dress I found pictures of online, and although I was able to see it in a bridal shop, I couldn’t try it on. It was from the runway, so roughly a size 0 in bridal. I’m a street size 12, so at least a 16 in bridal! I held it up to me and used my imagination. πŸ˜›

My dress is due to be in around May or June, so I’ll actually get to try it on then. Hopefully my gut instinct was right!

elderbee :  I’m waiting (im)patiently for the photographers to show more pics… they have posted a couple on their fb page (Margan Photography), and they are stunning! I don’t think I’ll do a recap here on the bee, but if you search the photographers, I’m sure it won’t be hard to find πŸ™‚

I got engaged and first things first my mom and I were looking at wedding dresses online! (she lives in Florida, I’m in Michigan.) I knew from the start that our budget for everything wouldn’t be huge, so I was looking on Tradesy.com. I saw a Maggie Sottero gown and fell in LOVE. It was so stunning and just my style,  only $500 too! It was a sample dress and was actually from a boutique a few cities away. They had a deal to get money off of your first purchase, so it was like $425-$475 (can’t remember the exact discount) Free shipping too! I got the dress in two days and loved it even more in person! Not damaged or stained with people’s makeup, which was a concern haha. It is gorgeous and after a year I still cannot wait to wear it πŸ™‚ All without setting foot into a bridal store, which I preferred πŸ™‚

I bought a dress I found online & fell in love with on BHLDN.com! I was having a beach wedding in Jamaica so I wanted something simple and flowy. I was a little nervous but I ended up loving it even more in person!
