Yesterday was my first day of dress shopping. I brought along my mother and my maid-of-honor.
Since I live out-of-state, I was hoping I’d find something right away since I don’t often have opportunities to shop with my mom and Maid/Matron of Honor. But, I also knew the chances of me finding some so quick were slim and that, even once I found something, it’d be months before I’d get it because I’d have to order it.
About 15 dresses later, I said yes to the dress… and bought the sample right off the rack for a fraction of what I thought I would spend on a dress. I got to bring it home with me yesterday.
The dress is nothing like I thought I wanted. I thought I wanted straps, I got a strapless dress. I thought I wanted more lace, it’s got lots of beading. I thought I wanted something I didn’t have to bustle, this one has to. The list goes on!
I’m usually a very methodical person so pulling the trigger and saying yes so quickly was kind of overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful dress! I am just the type who usually needs to think things through very thoroughly so today’s decision was very spontaneous for me!
Below is a picture of the dress. I’m going to have it hemmed about 5 inches (I’m a shorty… 5’2″) and I’m going to have the back zipper altered into a lace up instead (it fits like a glove now, but my weight fluctuates and having it lace up will give me better piece of mind… I’m at a higher weight now by about 5 lbs than I usually am).
Not trying to grab for compliments… I just wondered if anyone else had a similar experience dress shopping. Did you still love it on your wedding day?
