@Barbiestylez:  most designers will specifically send you invites to sample sales.  If you tend to shop MK thru MK you will get invites directly from them.  They’re mostly online now and not in stores like they used to be.  Although Jimmy Choo is still in store.  Kate Spade used to do better ones.  Now they do smaller frequent sales.  I once bought a $900 purse for $300 at one.  Im still waiting for my invite from Hermés. hehe.  Also, while many here are going on about much more expensive bags and how MK is “less designer” please don’t let it bother you.  If you get to that point, great.  If not, no worries just tell your SO how lucky he is that you don’t want a Prada, LV etc.  FWIW, I’m currently rocking a red leopard print satchel by some no name that I fell in love with when I was in Rome 2 weeks ago (although I do feel sorta fancy because we bought it at a little Roman boutique.  Before that it was Henri Bendel, Badgely Mischka and numerous Kate Spades.  My mom stole my burberry and never gave it back!  gah!  She has no idea who any designer is.  I even bought her a beautiful soft leather coach bag, still rocking my burberry.  You buy what you like.

@mamadingdong:  while no, i’m sure she is not selling her bags on ebay for a profit, i know a lot of people call higher end (whatever that may mean to you) bags an investment because they tend to last longer than $15 bags from target. you’re not going to buy a new one every 3 months because it breaks. you should be able to keep your new “designer” bag for years, therefore saving you money in the long run, which to some, is considered an investment.

some people just like name brands, they’re not looking to scream “I HAVE MONEY”, they’re looking to like what they have. honestly, i don’t see why your comment had to be so rude (which it really was). let the girl be happy she got something she’s wanted for a while, and got something nice for her family, too.

@glitter-girl:  i think you’re confused about what an investment means. let me show you again.

Process of exchanging income for an asset that is expected to produce earnings at a later time.

Investments have nothing to do with saving money in the long run or short term. Investments are about bringing in money in excess of what is spent. A car is not an investment. A home should be (with good market conditions).

Hope that helps!

@mamadingdong:  You’re right!  Thanks for the clarification. It would really be helpful to us bees to start a new thread on both short and long term investments instead of sticking it in a fashion thread. Maybe you could post a hyperlink to your new thread here so those interested in discussing what may or may not be a good purchase can debate over there instead of here. Thanks in advance for that courtesy. ๐Ÿ™‚

@SomedaymrsWDS:  I’m not interested in starting such thread, but I will correct comments in this one as addressed to me. Best regards.

@Barbiestylez:  I hope you don’t think I was threadjacking, bragging or trying to take away from your beautiful purchases!  ๐Ÿ™‚ I was just pointing out that it was how I started and ended up spending way too much on handbags!  So Danger, Danger!  LOL  I have actually sold all of my Balenciagas for a profit because they were pre-2009 (when they changed the leather) so they are collector bags now.

@SomedaymrsWDS:  I was wondering the same thing.  That seems like the sort of thing you think instead of say/type because really, what’s the point?  Seems awfully “rain on your parade” like.  Coach is expensive to some people and they think of it as a designer bag.  Ther’es nothing wrong with that nor do I see why it has to be corrected?  Seems smug.

@Barbiestylez:  Again, that is not an investment.

@Barbiestylez:  Ha ha I used to feel the same way. It is a never ending slippery slope of an addiction. Hurts so good! ๐Ÿ˜‰
