@aliciapdx: I think most of the ladies here understand these bags are not an actual investment. I buy nice designer bags because I love them, they hold up amazingly, and because one day I’ll give them to my daughter.

@mamadingdong: If we’re going to play the definition game, let’s play.
Definition of Invest
transitive verb
to make use of for future benefits or advantages
P.S. How the hell do I make that font smaller? LOL.
Invest doesn’t necessarily mean to get money back. There are lots of uses for the worst invest. She is investing her money in a product that will last her much longer than a lower quality product would. Is she going to make money off of it? Probably not, unless it is limited edition. However, she will BENEFIT from it and probably save money in the long run considering it will last much longer.
It was incredibly rude to assume that the only reason to carry expensive and/or designer products is so people can think you have money. That is not nearly the case at all. I don’t have money, but I have a decently priced pair of RayBan sunglasses because I love them, and I wanted them. I also have Dior makeup, Fossil wallets, etc. because I want them. I don’t buy them so that the old man walking through the grocery store will think I have money, that’s just absolutely ridiculous to think that.

@Chrissy26: Honestly, I never liked Coach. I never really cared about designer bags, I just know my sister/mom love coach bags and own a few. I never got it because I dont bat an eyelash spending 400$ on cosmetics because that is MY passion and what I enjoy spending my money on, but couldnt justify spending 200-300$ on a bag I didnt think was that spectacular. I went to the Coach store to purchase christmas gifts for my mom/sister and then saw that dark brown/black leather bag that reminded me of LV bags and really fell in love with it. i got a great deal on all the bags too so that helped me decide to purchase. Ive been eyeing the MK foiled bags for awhile and just finally decided I wanted to purchase it. But again, I cant see myself spending 1500$ on ANY bag. Everyone spends on different things. Like I said, I drop big money on cosmetics, my english bulldogs, concert tickets, electronics, my car… I just never got into bags. This is my first purchase of designer bags — mid range, low end or not… So I have no idea about any coach online societies or anything? LOL I am pretty clueless because Ive never been into it. Do you have any tips for buying designer bags for good deals? The only designers I would probably buy would be Gucci or LV if I ever did upgrade even more.

@mrspinesol: I think this is also a garbage argument, but please note that Gemstone specically requested not derailing this discussion any further. Please feel free to PM me and we can get to brass tacks about investments. Maybe my SO has been doing it wrong all along by buying rental properties…

@mamadingdong: wow. it’s obnoxious to imply that she can’t have a down payment on her house because she buys designer purses. really? grow up.
[content moderated for personal attack] Just keep in mind — many words have many different definitions. Investment doesn’t JUST involve money.
OP, I’m happy for you! Enjoy being fabulous with your awesome purses. 🙂

@letigre: Agreed, Coach/MK are still designer but not big time Designer bags, although I still do consider them expensive bags in general only because I used to be a Coach/MK/Burberry bag junkie years ago and thankfully I no longer spend more than $40 on a bag nowadays so anything over $100 for a bag is too expensive for me lol (I have friends who are crazy and spend thousands on Celine/Chanel/Fendi/Hermes and have NO clue how they justifiy it)
@OP you’re lucky you’ve only just started now, those are awesome gifts for your family!

@Barbiestylez: Love your bags!! new bags are always fun. Whether from Target or a “mid range brand” *rolls eyes*
p.s. I am so confused as to how certain people can take this thread and twist it so much. definitions flying around and scolding people telling them they need financial advice or counseling. Geez people! take a chill pill and wash it down with some unicorn piss. Maybe it will make you lighten the hell up.

@mamadingdong:
@aliciapdx:
this thread has taken a really bizarre turn. “investment piece” is a term that is used quite frequently in fashion and does not mean a literal financial investment like stocks or a 401k. However, you may have already known that and just chimed in to be argumentative or self righteous. If it is the latter, do you plan to post your educational replies on all threads where posters are wasting money? If so, you will be quite busy since it could be argued that weddings are all a huge waste of money, since you only need a license to be married and the wedding that people spent thousands on only lasts one day rather than a handbag that cost a few hundred and can at least be carried for years.
