- Wedding: June 2014
So this is my first post on wedding bee but let me tell you I have been obsessively looking at everyones wedding dresses for WEEKS. Wedding dress shopping has been the hardest part of wedding planning for me. I could of gone with a typical lace mermaid gown – they looked great on me and were simple and elegant. However, I knew I wanted a certian feel to my whole wedding. I also didn’t want to regret chosing a mermaid gown or ball gown because my opinion changes a MILLION times a day. I found a dress online that I KNEW I had to try on but nobody had it in my area. I called around to a few shops and FINALLY one shop an hour away was having an Essence of Austraila trunk show but I wasn’t sure if this particular dress was going to be there. Well I got a text from a consultant named Susan and THE DRESS WAS IN THE TRUNK SHOW. I went there on 10/26/13 -my 8 year ann. with my Fiance AND the 1 year mark of my engagement.
Having been at two different shops previously I was so glad the consultant I had today was young and hip and nice. There is nothing worse than an opinionated consultant. I also didn’t like how one of the shops I went to didn’t let us take pictures. I almost went with the San Patrick Eresma dress but I couldn’t remeber what I looked like in it.
My essence if austraila d1479 is so unique it is almost a mix between a mermaid and a ball gown so I don’t look like I am going to prom.
-keep in mind that this dress in the picture is basically a size two and I normally wear size 8/10 dress (street size). The bodice part of the dress will go below my hips and buttock and I think I am going to need a trumpet petticoat underneith to give it more of a mermaid/trumpet flair like the model in the photo. My goal is to lose 30 lbs -not minding if alterations are needed when the dress is in.
I am 5’9 1/2 169 pounds (for now) and ordered a 12 -YIKES- but the dress sizes were very different from street sizes.
