I needed something to do with my hands walking down the aisle and I had a fairly simple dress so I loved the accent of color that the bouquet gave.  We did DIY so it was not that much of a cost so…..for me I can’t think of any negatives of the bouquet.

I think the pop of color of a bouquet actually enhances the dress!  If you’re worried about it being too much, get something smaller, no bright colors (think soft pinks, whites, light yellows, light greens, maybe), etc.  Then it isn’t so much a statement piece but a complementary accent.

No flowers are going to upstage you on your wedding day! 🙂

I think why you’re seeing the bouquet as upstaging the dress is because so many brides hold their flowers really high!  (I don’t blame them, I’m sure as soon as you start walking down the aisle, you totally forget about where to put the flowers.)  But I think if the bouquet is small and held low, it looks really nice.  Of course, I’m obsessed with flowers, too.

But there is nothing that says you HAVE to have a bouquet!  You could certainly go without!

I recently saw a bride and bridesmaids carrying painted wooden fans- I thought that was a pretty cool alternative-  It was black and white wedding/bm wearing the LBD and carry HOT Colored fans- just a thought
