If you want to do this, then do it! Who cares if there are only a few singles. If you don’t do, you may regret it.

If it’s something you’ve always wanted to do, DO IT!  It’s always a fun time no matter what, and I’d bet that you can rally more single ladies than what you think.  Even little girls love going up for the bouquet toss.

I don’t have many single friends so I will not be doing either but if you wanna give it a go I say do it!

I’m giving the flowers to my FI’s beloved grandmother. I hated doing the toss as a single girl, there are not many left and I don’t want to put them through it.

As a guest, I always hated them when I was single and I’m bored by them now that I’m not, but Fiance was adamant that we do them, so we are.  Bottom line is it’s your wedding, but you also need to be prepared, especially if there aren’t many singles and the ones who are single are more shy, that a lot of girls will magically have to go to the bathroom at that particular moment (I used that trick more than once to get out of bouquet tosses as a single girl).  Might it look a little funny if only your flower girl and your crazy single Aunt Bea is out there?  Sure. Does it really matter? No. If that happens, throw them to whoever will be more entertaining and have a laugh.  🙂

we have the same problem, so we tweaked it a bit, we are inviting all the ladies to catch the bouquet and all the men to catch the garter, the person who catches it wins a gift certificate.

Why not invite everyone to participate, whether they are single or not? Then it’s less awkward. Also seriously contemplating a “teddy toss” for the kids attending… not sure if there will be enough kids though…

@pinkfrog:  I have lost count of the number of weddings where I just happened to need to go to the ladies room as they were announcing the toss……

I like the idea of inviting everyone, and gjving away a gift certificate.

I wasn’t going to do it at ours, but the day of, we decided that we wanted to… so we did! I just let all the “single ladies” come up, regardless of age, and same with the men. We didn’t have the guy put the garter on the girl to spare that whole awkwardness. I think people still had fun with it, even though it was really simple.

I’m in the same situation. I’m thinking I’ll just invite ALL of the ladies out on the floor that want to participate, that way the singles don’t feel singled out. I’m thinking of making a paper flower bouquet to toss and possibly going with the fortune bouquet idea from martha stewart http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/227296/fortune-bouquets or I might give out a small gift or gift certificate like penguinof3 suggested.

I am skipping the Garter thing because I really don’t like the Fiance of Fiance going up my skirt with his teeth while my Dad/Brother/Uncle etc look on! I am going to let him take it off in private later in our room using that method . And as something special for him, I am going to get a custom made garter in the colours of his soccer team and that’s something I’d like to keep, not toss away. And maybe wear it again on our first wedding anniversary.

Nothing says awkward like be dragged in front of everyone to have your singleness flaunted.  One time we girls just let the bouquet land on the floor in front of us and walked away.  🙂
