(Closed) Bouquet Toss vs. Generations Dance

  • poll: How are you handling the bouquet toss?

Tradition is tradition... bouquet/gartet toss all the way

How sweet... we're going with a generations dance

I'm not doing anything at all for this

Something else, which I'll explain below

Im doing both and just having a seperate flower arrangement made for the lucky married couple. I read that online somewhere right after me and the Fiance got engaged a year and a half ago, and HAD to have it at the reception! Its too sweet a gesture to pass up!

That is really sweet! We are doing a dance in honor of my parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary and will play thier song, but no bouquet/garter toss and no other special dances.

I love the idea of the generation dance! I never really liked the bouquet tossing, as a guest it always made me feel awkward… especially when I caught it once!

I’m doing the bouqet toss but this Generation dance sounds like a cute idea too.  I think I’ll see if I can do both.  And do what MissSpenella and get another bouqet for the special couple.

Im not doing the garter toss, but Im gonna do the bouquet toss…I wanna see a fight break out! lol

I was at a wedding and they did the generation dance (of the DJ’s version of it)…it was TERRIBLE.  He took up almost 1/2 hour of dancing time for everyone else. No one really knew what was going on.  I didnt like it at all.

I never realized that there were people out there that didn’t like the bouquet toss until I found Weddingbee! LOL Probably because I love it so much! At every wedding I’ve been to/in, I am the first one out on the floor. And unfortunately, I was caught on video last year as Maid/Matron of Honor, doing what appeared to be a football tackle/leap/jump to get the bouquet (i got it!). I can’t wait to be the one throwing it!

We didn’t have any tosses.  The generation dance sounds cute, if we had had more guests, I would have done it.

THe DJ at that wedding was terrible though.  The couple didn’t even do their first dance unitl 10:30.  The reception started at 7!  We basically sat around for HOURS

Ok we did bouquet and garter, but had I known about that, I might have done it instead because that is so romantic and sweet.. O man if only we could party again!

I’m with you on the flower toss.  I always find that I have to go the bathroom when that little event occurs.  I do like the generation dance though.  In a way, you’re honoring all of the married couples who are at your wedding not to mention the winning couple.  We are definitely doing this at our wedding.

I love generation dances!  I’ve never seen them give the flowers and garter to the longest married couple though!  Great idea…  One wedding played the adam sandler song “I just wanna grow old with you.”  It was funny and touching… but some older people may not get it 😉
