first poster here, finally decided I needed some unbiased advice from someone other than my mother and friends! I have a custom designed dress, for which I bought a beautiful sash off Etsy. I’m trying to decide if I should ask the seamstress to sew the sash on, without a bow or any trail of ribbon going down the back (I have a long line of buttons from the top to the bottom of the train!!), or add some visual interest by having a small bow with long ribbon trailing off. I don’t have a picture of it wtihout the bow because it was hard to hold it up there and get peoples hands out of the way for the camera, but it would be cleaner, with the ribbon sewed into the seam next to the zipper, almost like a belt. whaddya think?!

I’d have it sewn on like a belt.

I would have it made into a belt…but I do love the bow:) so either way it’ll look great!

i like the bow when the veil is not there. so it depends on if you will be wearing your veil for the ceremony only, or the whole time. if only ceremony, then i say keep the bow as is.
you should put a poll up.

I would have it sewn on without the bow. The buttons are gorgeous and I wouldn’t want to detract from them.

I like the bow, but it almost takes away from those beautiful buttons! Maybe she could shorten the ends of the ribbon/sash? BEAUTIFUL!
And great wedding weekend! =) maybe a white/ivory or even organza material (?) sash might make a difference?

I think the bow takes away from the beautiful lace detail and buttons in the back.

I like the bow how it is now. I love the detail of the bottons on your dress but I dont think the bow is taking away from that, simply because they do go all the way down the dress. So my vote is keep it like it is Love the bow. With all that being said. Your dress is absolutely beautiful. You look amazing.

I really like the touch of the bow. It goes with your overall look very well, but I agree with Oracle, it takes away from the beauty and detail along the back of the gown. I would say get the sash sewn into the gown and go bow-less. PS- you look absolutely gorgeous in your dress! It is perfect for you 🙂

Simone Carvalli? 🙂 I would like to start by saying that the dress and you look mutually lovely. I actually prefer the dress without the sash, but didn’t see that as an option. I just think the sash doesn’t quite match the dress that is already so beautiful without it. If I may suggest my vision to you…an ivory/diamond white (matching the color of your dress) thin or perhaps sheer sash with crystal/beading sewn along the upper lace line just below the bust. That, to me, better matches the elegance of the dress. Also, definitely no bow. Beautiful choice!

I like the bow without the veil. If you’re wearing the veil I would sew the sash on. It’s just too much going on with the both of them I think.
